Plugins can now declare the Node.js version they need, and protoAgent resolves a matching Node (your own, or its managed runtime) with a one-click install when none fits. The managed-runtime install can no longer be interrupted mid-download. Plugins declare it with requires_runtimes: {node: ">=20"}; if your system Node is older, protoAgent uses its managed runtime once installed (one click from the setup banner). A CLI-installed Node requires a plugin reload to take effect. Set PROTOAGENT_NODE_SHADOW=0 to opt out of the managed install shadowing an older PATH Node.

Plugin Capabilities

  • Plugins can register file artifacts into the Artifact panel via sdk.service("artifact.save_file") without requiring an agent turn, with standard size limits and path validation.
  • A2A answers can carry files: a tool that produces a deliverable attaches it with sdk.attach_file, and A2A callers receive a file part with an absolute signed link. /v1 responses include the link and an attachments field. Set A2A_PUBLIC_URL when the server is reachable from other machines.
  • Atlas is now listed in the plugin directory.
  • The Engineer persona uses the Atlas architecture/ model for onboarding overviews and guided tours when available, falling back to Mermaid otherwise.
  • The Brand & Launch persona includes a new "Architecture walkthrough" phase that records tours using Atlas and Campaign.

Console & UI

  • Plugin views can draft chat messages for the operator to send via the protoagent:chat:compose action, which pre-fills the composer but does not auto-send.
  • Plugin code-open actions support an open_in parameter to target the code pane or the host editor, with fallbacks to copying the link.
  • Background agent replies and progress indicators now render progressively to prevent layout shifts and height bouncing in the transcript.

Browser Automation

  • Browser tools now serialize actions per session to prevent keystroke interleaving during parallel tool calls.
  • browser_upload and browser_form_read correctly handle Greenhouse and React Select multi-select fields, reading back filenames and country flags without false negatives or duplicate entries.
