AgentOS 1.0.1
A new look: AgentOS has a geometric emblem as its app icon, and the README opens with a banner.
AgentOS 1.0.0
AgentOS 1.0.0 🎉
The first stable release. Two months and 192 commits after the first line of the overview, AgentOS does what it set out to do: offer one purpose-built place to work with agents, safely.
What AgentOS is
A desktop app where you and your agents work together in conversations, inside workspaces that are hard boundaries. Every tool call an agent makes is a visible entry in the thread, every permission is yours to give, and everything is stored locally as plain files.
Highlights
Workspaces and conversations
- A workspace holds its agents, tools, workflows, sources, memories, env and conversations, and nothing crosses from one to another.
- Several agents share one conversation: @mention them to start their turns, and see who is acting at any moment.
- Long conversations are summarized, and later turns start from the summary.
- Conversations can open other conversations, with mounts and a prompt, and run alongside them.
- Paste a screenshot into a message and agents see it.
Safety first
- Every tool is allowed, asked or denied per agent. Asking shows exactly what the agent wants before anything happens.
- Each conversation works in its own sandbox. Read-only mounts stay read-only.
- An isolated git mount never starts work on the default branch: branching comes first.
Your data, mounted
- Mount git repositories, directories, or the workspace's own conversations into a sandbox.
- Isolated mounts give each conversation its own worktree, so conversations run in parallel without stepping on each other.
- Built-in git tools branch, commit, pull and push, each one a recorded call.
- Agents are now told which sources the workspace has, so they can choose what to mount.
Build your own
- Script tools, written in an editor or by the Tool builder agent, with schemas that decide how their input and output read.
- Agents, defined with a model, a system prompt and their permissions, by hand or by an agent.
- Workflows that run tool steps and agent turns in order, with conditions to branch.
- Memories that outlive the conversation they were learned in, carried by the agents that need them.
Know what it costs
- Every turn records what it sent and what it spent, and the workspace adds it up.
New in 1.0: shared workspaces
- Create a workspace with a git repository and continue on another machine: conversations, sandboxes, agents, tools and env keys travel. Env values stay on each machine.
- One Sync button, a refusal when both machines changed, and mounts rebuilt on first use.
- Shared workspaces are marked in the workspace list.
