What determines the value of 'len' when readCB() is called?

When the call back readCB(data, len, ref) is invoked, len has which value?
I'm a noob and reading the sources lost me: I stopped at TUD_AUDIO_EP_SIZE() :-)

Running the microphone example, the value is always 48. I need to know if it won't ever change...

In the default example and with the current configuration, len will always be 48.
If you change the audio format (sample rate, bit depth, channels) or the endpoint descriptor, len may change.
