Is it possible to get the progress of the music currently playing?

If you get the most recent version you can define the avrc information that is requested: e.g. just call set_avrc_metadata_attribute_mask(ESP_AVRC_MD_ATTR_TITLE | ESP_AVRC_MD_ATTR_ARTIST | ESP_AVRC_MD_ATTR_ALBUM | ESP_AVRC_MD_ATTR_TRACK_NUM | ESP_AVRC_MD_ATTR_NUM_TRACKS | ESP_AVRC_MD_ATTR_GENRE | AVRC_MEDIA_ATTR_ID_PLAYING_TIME);
before you call start();

However I never tried this out myself.

Thanks, although I was not able to get it to work, so far I was only able to get the total time with ESP_AVRC_MD_ATTR_PLAYING_TIME, but AVRC_MEDIA_ATTR_ID_PLAYING_TIME would not compile and complain that it is not defined. No luck with getting the current position. I don't know how but I think the Bluetooth on cars is able to get the progress bar, which is why I wanted to do the same. I tried using a timer, but would instantly break when I fast forward.

What version id displayed if you check the esp32 version in the board manager ?
I think it should work if you upgrade to 2.0.0 which has been released a couple of weeks ago.

If you manage to get the total playing time it should be easy to calculate the percentage...

Oh, I think I see the issue: only the Album Playing time is available, but not the one for the track. So the best thing you could do is to calculate the average time per track...

I can confirm that it is 2.0.0.

It can grab the one for the track I think. It is pretty easy to get the percentage, but that could change if I fast forward or backward. I don't know how to detect when the song's progress is changed and how to get the amount of time it changed.

In case I was not being very specific:
The way I am implementing the progress feature is just by an internal timer and see how long has passed since the song's played and divide by the total time, but this doesn't work nicely in many situations. For example, if I am at 50% of the song want to skip a part of a song, I scrub forward to 90%. But my internal timer would not know that change and the progress would still be 50%. That is the main problem that I am having.

I am afraid that is the best that you can do and I don't see any way to improve...

AVRC_MEDIA_ATTR_ID_PLAYING_TIME was my mistake and I confirm that ESP_AVRC_MD_ATTR_PLAYING_TIME is the correct thing to use.
