The First Public Alpha Release

Welcome to the first public release of PulseFrame Studio!

PulseFrame is a free, open-source music visualization and video editing application built with Node.js and Electron.

The project originally started as a small personal tool for creating music videos for my own tracks.

Well... things got a little out of hand :D

What began as a simple visualizer is gradually turning into a creative workspace for music videos, animated visuals, edits, and track announcements.

This is an early alpha release. Expect unfinished features, occasional bugs, and frequent changes.

🎵 Music Visualization

PulseFrame includes two main visualization styles:

  • Neon: Audio-reactive neon visuals, glowing effects, and animated frequency bars.
  • Montagem: Music visualization combined with video editing, clips, and synchronized effects.

Additional capabilities include:

  • Audio frequency analysis.
  • Custom music and cover artwork.
  • Animated backgrounds.
  • Configurable visualization settings.
  • Intro and outro sequences.
  • Landscape (16:9) and portrait (9:16) formats.

🎬 Video Editing

The Montagem editor introduces timeline-based editing tools.

Features include:

  • Importing video clips.
  • Arranging clips on a timeline.
  • Trimming and splitting clips.
  • Previewing edits.
  • Repeating montage sequences.
  • Synchronizing video with music.
  • Configuring transitions and visual effects.

The early editor supports up to two primary videos and twenty montage clips.

Transitions and Effects

The current editing direction focuses on:

  • Cut: Instant transition between clips.
  • Pull In / Pull Out: Fast zoom transitions.
  • Shake: Camera shake effects.
  • Spin: Rotational transitions.

Older effects are being phased out of the editor. Compatibility with effects saved in previous project files is being retained where possible.

Some editing controls and effects are still experimental.

📢 Track Announcements

PulseFrame includes tools for creating short music announcements.

  • Select a specific part of a song.
  • Create announcements approximately 10–30 seconds long.
  • Configure intro and outro timing.
  • Use vertical video layouts.
  • Adjust background framing.
  • Synchronize the announcement with the selected audio segment.

The announcement workflow is being refined to work independently of montage backgrounds.

🎨 Customization

  • Custom backgrounds and cover artwork.
  • Visual effects and particles.
  • Adjustable glow and animation settings.
  • Watermark customization.
  • Russian and English interface support.
  • Interface theme settings.

Some customization options may change during alpha development.

💾 Export and Projects

PulseFrame uses FFmpeg for video processing in the desktop environment.

The export system is designed around:

  • MP4 video.
  • H.264 video encoding.
  • AAC audio encoding.
  • Configurable resolution, frame rate, and quality.
  • Portrait and landscape output.
  • Portable FFmpeg support.
  • JPEG and PNG image export.

Important: MP4 export requires the Electron desktop environment and FFmpeg. It is not supported by the browser-only preview.

Export functionality is still being tested and may not work correctly with every media file or system configuration.

Projects can be saved for later editing. Keep the original media files in their locations, since projects may reference external file paths.

⚠️ Known Limitations

This is alpha software.

Current limitations include:

  • Some features are incomplete or experimental.
  • Video export may fail with certain media formats.
  • Some codecs may require conversion.
  • Performance depends on hardware and project complexity.
  • Imported media paths may break if files are moved.
  • The maximum project duration is currently limited to approximately two hours.
  • Some visual effects and transitions may still contain bugs.
  • Desktop compatibility has not been fully verified across all target operating systems.

Please report reproducible issues through GitHub Issues.

🖥️ Platforms

PulseFrame is being developed for desktop systems using Electron.

Target platforms:

  • Windows
  • Linux
  • macOS

Android support is planned for the future.

Note: A target platform is not necessarily a tested or downloadable build. Check the attached release assets for available packages.

🔓 Free and Open Source

PulseFrame Studio is intended to remain free and open source.

The goal is to create useful tools for creators without mandatory subscriptions or paid feature unlocks.

Development is currently handled by one person, with AI-assisted coding and hands-on testing.
