v1.7.53 - TESTING ONLY

This is a testing release, not production-validated. Owner live Windows testing is required before production use.

Changes

  • Malwarebytes remains winget-first.
  • If winget is unavailable, fails, or installs without a usable GUI, the tool downloads the official Malwarebytes consumer offline installer.
  • The fallback is PE-validated, staged atomically through a .part file, launched visibly, and followed by an attended mbam.exe GUI launch.
  • START-HERE.bat uses the shared scanner wrapper so the winget and fallback paths cannot drift.
  • Scanner results record fallback usage and status.

Verification

  • GitHub Actions windows-ci passed on Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025.
  • The release bundle was built from tag v1.7.53 at commit d4f4c4c05e7a6ff8acfd0cbf80079c00045477ec.
  • ZIP SHA-256: 802fa38ebe35014e6c83690e55b5db47af521f58ac0110722081e73b46693f23

Testing limits

  • No live Malwarebytes installation or scan was performed by the agent.
  • The owner must test the winget success path and the offline fallback path on disposable/approved Windows systems before production use.
