Disable pwd

Apologies if this was documented and I missed it. Is there a configuration to disable printing current working directory altogether? I could find truncation / shortening and rearranging order in here but not turning it off.

There is no such option as the pwd is a funding feature for prompt.

Out of curiosity, what is your use case here?

I was recording my terminal session for documenting a project, and I wanted to hide the working directory from the prompt (along with every other additional info I normally use). I ended up using bash with the pure prompt character as a workaround. It's a very ephemeral use case though, so I totally understand not supporting this.

FYI, in such case you can redefine the fish_prompt function temporarily to just show the pure symbol like

function fish_prompt
    echo ">" 
end
