Console Types

Console selection is alias-only (case-insensitive). The alias registry lives in the VideoGameFileSystemParser library and is the single source of truth — the UI dropdown and the /s:<alias> command-line flag both resolve aliases through it.

Choosing a type

  • PlayStation discs — try psauto first; it auto-detects PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP layouts. Use ps1, ps2, ps3 or psp when you know the platform.
  • Generic data discs — iso9660 (with Joliet/Rock Ridge support) is the safe default.
  • Emulators expecting a plain ISO — isoraw2048 or isoraw2352 expose the whole image as a single image.iso file (recommended for xemu and RPCS3).
  • Emulators or burning tools expecting CUE/BIN — use one of the cue* modes; they generate a virtual .cue sheet plus .bin/.iso data and optional per-track .wav files.
  • Not sure at all? Try the platform-specific alias; if parsing fails, fall back to iso9660. The parser's error message is shown in the log pane.
