ZArchiveSharp v1.4.0
Framework-dependent standalone CLI bundles for Windows, Linux and macOS (x64 + arm64), an original MIT-licensed pipeline layer, stricter batch isolation, and a three-runtime test matrix.
Highlights
- Original, MIT-licensed pipeline layer —
ZarPipeline,ZarPackEngine,ProcessRunner,SevenZipand the settings/stage/progress model are an independent implementation. The public API, archive bytes, CLI behavior and exit codes are unchanged from v1.3.0; the repository no longer contains third-party-derived code. - Stricter per-item batch isolation — a source path that cannot be mapped to an output fails only its own item (a
FailedZarItemResult) instead of throwingAggregateExceptionout ofPackBatch/ExtractBatch. - Robust process runner — a tool whose stderr pipe is inherited and held open by a grandchild no longer stalls the bounded drain; the lines already read are kept for the failure message.
- Tested on every runtime — the full library suite runs on
net8.0,net9.0andnet10.0(4292 tests each), plus 43 CLI battle tests and the Ubuntu/Windows/macOS CI matrix with no native toolchain installed.

Each zip contains the single-file executable plus its required ZArchiveSharp.Cli.runtimeconfig.json sidecar (the .NET runtime is not embedded), README.md, LICENSE and THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md. Unix executables are marked executable in the zip, so they run straight after unzipping.
Or install the global tool: dotnet tool install -g ZArchiveSharp.Cli.
License
MIT — the whole codebase, including the pipeline layer. See LICENSE and THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.
Upgrade notes
- No API, wire-format or CLI changes since v1.3.0; recompiling is enough, and no data migration is needed.
- NuGet packages now declare the SPDX expression
<license type="expression">MIT</license>;LICENSEandTHIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.mdare still packed. - Behavior changes apply only to malformed input: an unmappable batch path reports
Failedfor that item, and a held stderr pipe can no longer delay the result. - Standalone bundles are framework-dependent: install the matching .NET 10 runtime and keep the
ZArchiveSharp.Cli.runtimeconfig.jsonsidecar next to the executable.
