The first public version of Puros, a macOS music player built for audio quality.

Warning

This is an alpha. Expect rough edges, missing features and bugs, and keep a backup of anything important. Tell us what breaks on Discord.

What's in it

  • Playback: CoreAudio exclusive mode with shared-mode fallback, per-device audio setup, resampling with SoX, FIR or Apple CoreAudio, and format badges for sample rate, bit depth, bitrate, DSD and MQA.
  • Library: local files with full metadata, M3U playlists, artists, albums, tracks, genres, pins and listening history.
  • Live radio: Radio Browser stations and your own streams.
  • Sound and extras: parametric EQ with AutoEQ presets, VST/VST3 effects, a MilkDrop-style visualizer, Last.fm scrobbling and Discord Rich Presence.
  • Streaming providers: install provider packages from Settings → Accounts → Install provider…. Unofficial providers for SoundCloud, Spotify, TIDAL and YouTube Music are listed in purosapp/providers-list; they are third-party software and not part of Puros.

Install

  1. Download Puros-0.0.1-alpha-arm64.dmg below.
  2. Open it and drag Puros to Applications.

Requires a Mac with Apple Silicon and macOS 12 or later. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
