What is it?

This is the first alpha release of NextUI for Anbernic RG__XX devices. It is based on NextUI 6.11.2.

!! STRICTLY FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY !!
This port is not finished yet! I am not responsible if this blows up in your face.

Which devices are supported?

This release has been tested on RG40XXV and RG34XXSP only. However all the below should be supported (try it and report back):

  • RG28XX
  • RG34XX
  • RG34XXSP
  • RG35XX+
  • RG35XX Pro
  • RG35XXSP
  • RG35XXH
  • RG40XXH
  • RG40XXV
  • RG Cube XX

The original RG35XX is not supported.

TrimUI Brick, Smart Pro and Smart Pro S are also supported as usual, but it's untested. Stick with official release if you have a TrimUI device.

How to install?

You need:

  • one of the above devices with the Stock OS in your 1st SD card slot. StockMod is also supported. Make sure you are NOT using the MU theme (you can change it on stock OS by going to Settings > Icon settings).
  • a second SD card formatted as FAT or exFAT using the MBR partitioning scheme.

Steps:

  1. Download and unzip the contents of the zip file to (ideally) an empty SD card. This is your Next UI card.
  2. If you want, you can also copy your games and bios to the Roms/ and Bios/ folder now.
  3. You will see an h700/ folder and a file dmenu.bin inside it. Copy just this file to the Roms folder of your Stock OS card. SCR-20260709-tjae
  4. Insert the stock OS card in your 1st SD card slot, and the Next UI card in the 2nd SD card slot, then power on your handheld.

NextUI should start installing and then boot up.

If you already copied your games, they'll show up. If not, power off your device, take the NextUI card out and copy your games. Then plug it in again, reboot your device and enjoy.

If you see a blank screen, this is a bug, don't power off your device. Wait 5 min and it will restart.

What works and what doesn't?

Almost everything should work, but I have not tested several things, e.g.:

  • Bluetooth is untested.
  • HDMI output is not tested.
  • On RG34XXSP, Bootlogo pack does not work.
  • No Pak Store

Bug reports

You can either come to NextUI discord in the h700-stuff channel, or create GitHub issues. I am a hobbyist doing this in my free time so support is not guaranteed. However, it would be helpful to receive bug reports on what works and what doesn't.

Alpha 1.1 fixes a bug in alpha 1 which could prevent installation if your stock OS was older than expected. It also now bundles TrimUI support just in case you try to install it on your TrimUI. (Don't do it, it brings you nothing.)
