What is it?

This is the 3rd release candidate of NextUI for Anbernic RG XX devices. It is based on NextUI 6.14.0.

NOTE: This port is not official yet - please file bug reports only on this GitHub repo, or in the #h700-stuff channel on Discord.

Which devices are supported?

  • RG28XX
  • RG34XX
  • RG34XXSP
  • RG35XX+
  • RG35XX Pro
  • RG35XXSP
  • RG35XXH
  • RG40XXH
  • RG40XXV
  • RG Cube XX

The original RG35XX is not supported.

TrimUI Brick, Smart Pro and Smart Pro S are also supported as usual, but it's untested. Stick with official release if you have a TrimUI device.

How to install?

You need:

  • one of the above devices.
  • the Anbernic stock OS that came with your handheld or StockMod OS already working from your 1st SD card slot.
  • a second SD card for NextUI and your games

You can also use BaseOS - a drop-in minimal replacement for the stock OS that boots up ultrafast (under 7 seconds) and supports all features. Disclaimer: BaseOS is not associated with NextUI and it is optional to use.

Steps:

  1. Download and unzip the contents of the zip file to (ideally) an empty SD card formatted as FAT32 or exFAT using the MBR partitioning scheme. This is your Next UI card.
  2. If you want, you can also copy your games and bios to the Roms/ and Bios/ folder now.
  3. You will see an h700/ folder and a file dmenu.bin inside it. Copy just this file to the Roms partition of your Stock OS card. SCR-20260709-tjae

IMPORTANT: make sure you are NOT using "MU style 1" or "MU style 2" -- change your theme to "old style" (default). Otherwise, NextUI will not start.

If you're using BaseOS, you can skip step 3.

  1. Insert the stock OS (or BaseOS) card in your 1st SD card slot, and the Next UI card in the 2nd SD card slot, then power on your handheld.

NextUI should start installing and then boot up.

If you already copied your games, they'll show up. If not, power off your device, take the NextUI card out and copy your games. Then plug it in again, reboot your device and enjoy.

What works and what doesn't?

Almost everything works, except:

  • No Pak Store
  • No Updater

These will be added during final release.

Bug reports

You can either come to NextUI discord in the h700-stuff channel, or create GitHub issues. I am a hobbyist doing this in my free time so support is not guaranteed. However, it would be helpful to receive bug reports on what works and what doesn't.
