Crab Buddy 0.10.0: scenes, not loops
Every take now plays as a 14-second scene. The crab works, stops for a beat (a hop, a stretch, a look back at its work) with a little emote, works on, then takes a second, different beat.
- 110 takes across 25 moods. Thinking, reading, testing and long turns get nine takes each: chess, a chalkboard, a telescope, a file drawer, a microscope, a progress bar, a treadmill and more.
- Ten build scenes before one repeats. The second lap adds welding, drilling, a blueprint, sweeping up and a crane.
- Fresh caption lines for all of them: fifteen one-liners for the busiest moods.
- Compacting shows only when a compaction really runs. A compaction that a settings hook holds back no longer squishes the crab.
- A glossary of the crab's parts (glossary page): one word for each part (band, stage, take, scene, beat, emote, dwell…), with a live atlas of every take, so a change can be asked for in one sentence.
Update:
claude plugin marketplace update crab-buddy
claude plugin update crab-buddy@crab-buddyThe new crab shows in sessions started after the update.
Crab Buddy 0.9.5
Both caption lines always show. The newest one-liner is in full text colour and the one before it dimmer, even when other plugins' status lines sit beside it. Before, a status line could push the older line out, which read as the line hiding it. README screenshots now show the crab on its stage with the two-tone caption.
v0.9.4
Crab Buddy 0.9.3
- The stage comes alive. A failed test trips the crab; a fix throws confetti across the stage; every walk leaves fading footprints. Editing lays a brick wall, painting leaves a stripe, subagents send two mini crabs across, and web searches surf a wave. All of it hides when your system asks for reduced motion.
- A calmer pace. Each look holds at least 8 s, walks are half as fast, and takes rotate every 14 s. Errors, test results, the end of a turn and questions still show at once.
- Hover never stops the crab (from 0.9.2). The label rides with it in your theme's ink, stays 3 s after you move away, then fades.
Update: claude plugin marketplace update crab-buddy, then claude plugin update crab-buddy@crab-buddy, then start a new session.
Crab Buddy 0.9.1
- No more snap-back. When the crab changes what it's doing, it walks on from where it is instead of jumping back across the stage.
- Readable hover label. Point at the crab: the label is crab orange with dark text, the same in light and dark themes.
Update: claude plugin marketplace update crab-buddy, then claude plugin update crab-buddy@crab-buddy, then start a new session.
Crab Buddy 0.9.0
- Light theme fixed in the desktop app. The band paints the app's own transcript colour and follows a theme switch live (it used to stay dark on Windows and Mac in light mode).
- The crab gets a stage. On a wide band it owns the right half: it walks to a spot per mood, wanders while idle, takes a lap when done and curls up at the right to doze. Narrow windows keep the corner crab.
Update: claude plugin marketplace update crab-buddy, then claude plugin update crab-buddy@crab-buddy, then start a new session.
Crab Buddy 0.8.0
An animated pixel-art Claude crab for Claude Code, in the desktop app and the terminal.
- 25 moods, four takes each; each look holds at least 3 s, so nothing flashes
- A caption of one-liners, ten per mood, that scrolls like a terminal
- Light and dark themes; respects reduce motion
- 0 tokens: no model calls, no network
