How do I map the thumb wheel of my mx master 3 to system volume up/down

I can't figure out how to remap the thumb scroll wheel to system volume up/down.

You need to write a Solaar rule that triggers on diverted thumb wheel notifications and then does something to affect the system volume. The former is similar to one of the rules in the rule documentation page. The latter will likely be emulating a key press or executing an external program.

You can add this to your configuration YML. Start Solaar and in the rule editor change the keypresses to XF86_volume... or similar.

Yes I was able to set the rules using the gui using clues from matthags config.

@rp1231 - thanks, I ended up figuring out my issue... my KeyPress config was using the wrong keys. Note that rightarrow is not actually the right arrow. It's Right :)

I am trying to do the same thing as rp1231, but I am having trouble. Whenever I try to put in "click" for one of my key presses, it gives me an error icon. Same with putting thumb_wheel_up in brackets and adding the 10. Any advise would be appreciated, because I am still relatively new to Linux.

That's your goal. What are you trying to do with the keypress action? "click" isn't a key.
