Sync labels across pyos repos

It looks like we can create label rules using this tool using this action:

This might be a good way to ensure our labels across all repos are the same / colors description etc without doing it manually. this would be a good sprint activity for someone to play with it and see if it would work for pyOpenSci to ensure consistency across all of our repos:

Just an FYI, if you're looking for a robust declarative way to manage GitHub settings (syncing labels, but also anything else GitHub related within an organisation, cross organisation, or even targeting specific repos) it might be worth looking at the GitHub provider for Terraform. Here's a link to the labels specific part of the docs .

I think managing GitHub settings in a centralised, declarative way like this could be powerful for an org like PyOpenSci where you may want consistency across repos in some aspects (e..g, creating a maintainer team in YAML that have access to all reviewed PyOpenSci packages).

Not really sure the usecase, but worth being on your radar @lwasser if not already.

(note that Terraform became business licensed, but there is an permissively licensed drop-in fork - OpenTofu)

hey there @VeckoTheGecko i'm so sorry that i didn't reply here. I somehow missed the notification last year! we do at some point need to try to coordinate at a org level and declarative approaches would be great. i'll leave this open for the time being.
