Financial aid is responsible for advertising, and selecting financial aid.

Financial aid requests should come in via a web form, you will need to ask for

Announce that you are opening applications for financial aid. Your period for this should cover

• Name
• location
• contact details
• Have you submitted a talk to PyCon AU?
• Where are you travelling from?
• Which parts of PyCon AU are you planning to attend?
• What financial assistance do you need to attend PyCon AU?
• Total money requested (AUD)
• Application Statement (short summary of what the money will be used for and why they are a good candidate for aid)
• Do you identify as a member of an under-represented group?
• Are you looking for support in getting a ticket?
• Have you received financial aid to attend past PyCon AU conferences?

Assigning budget

The financial aid budget will need to support several different goals:

• Supporting speakers who could otherwise not attend with travel and accommodation
• Supporting attendees who could otherwise not attend with travel and accommodation
• Supporting attendees who could not otherwise attend with free tickets (these should be accounted for at Cost Of Goods Sold)

Travel for international speakers (Beyond NZ) is very expensive and can eat up a lot of your budget. Consider only offering travel assistance for people within Australia.
