Bug fixes

  • Keep the extras on a local archive named without ./, so pipx install "tool-1.0-py3-none-any.whl[cow]" installs the cow extra like ./tool-1.0-py3-none-any.whl[cow] does. A version specifier, URL or environment marker after such a name now fails with an error instead of being silently dropped (#2174) by @Cyber-Marty and @gaborbernat.
  • Keep the recorded source of a local wheel when pipx runpip <venv> install passes an option value that names the package, such as --only-binary <name>, --no-binary <name>, or uv's --upgrade-package <name> (#2166) by @dailyun and @gaborbernat.
  • Read the full inline script metadata block when a TOML multiline string in it contains a # /// line, instead of failing with Unterminated string. As the inline script metadata specification requires, the block now ends at the last # /// line of its comment run (#2172) by @zurrll and @gaborbernat.
  • Retain commands enabled by additional dependency extras with --include-deps (#2185) by @JackyHsu-X and @gaborbernat.
  • pipx install pkg-1.0.tar.xz and other bare filenames ending in an archive extension pip accepts (.tar.bz2, .tgz, .tar and the rest, in any letter case) now install the local file instead of looking up a mangled project name on PyPI (#2177) by @ShahabAhmed01 and @gaborbernat.
  • pipx upgrade-all --pip-args=--index-url, or any other index option given without a value, now fails with an error naming the option instead of a StopIteration traceback, and --output json reports it in the usual error envelope (#2182) by @jdotc1 and @gaborbernat.
