NetplanTUI – Version 1.0.8
NetplanTUI – Version 1.0.8
- Fixed Netplan file saving when choosing new file.
- Included Makefile to compile and deploy to /usr/local/bin
- Standardized the naming convention to move away from version numbers in binary name
NetplanTUI – Version 1.0.7
NetplanTUI – Version 1.0.7
Profile Saving Improvements
Save to Loaded Profile
- Added the ability to save changes directly back to the currently loaded Netplan profile.
- When a profile is loaded from
/etc/netplan/, edits can now be written in-place without requiring the user to choose a new filename. - The TUI clearly indicates which profile is active, preventing accidental overwrites.
YAML Validation Before Save
- All values (addresses, gateways, nameservers, IPv4/IPv6 modes, DHCP settings) are revalidated before writing.
- Inline token highlighting still applies, ensuring invalid data cannot be saved without correction.
Safer Write Behavior
- A temporary file is generated during write, and only on successful YAML construction does it replace the original.
- Reduces risk of corrupted or partially written netplan configurations.
General Enhancements
- Improved handling of profiles containing comments, metadata, or custom user keys.
- Minor UI polish for profile status indicators and save confirmations.
NetplanTUI Version 1.0.4
NetplanTUI – Version 1.0.4
Profile Loading & UI Improvements
Netplan Profile Loading
- Added automatic loading of existing Netplan profiles from
/etc/netplan/. - Detects YAML configuration files and parses:
- Interface names
- Addresses
- DHCP settings
- Gateways
- Nameservers
- Descriptions (if present)
Automatic UI Population
- When a profile is selected, all relevant fields in the TUI are auto-populated:
- Interface name
- Address list
- DHCP mode
- IPv4/IPv6 mode (derived automatically)
- Gateways
- Nameservers
- Description field
Profile-Aware Editing
- Users can now load an existing profile, adjust fields, and regenerate updated YAML.
- Ensures loaded data is validated using the same rules as manually entered data.
- Invalid or unusual entries are still preserved with inline token highlighting, just like manual input.
General Enhancements
- Improved YAML parsing robustness to better support mixed IPv4/IPv6 configurations.
- Minor UI adjustments to indicate when a profile is loaded and being edited.
NetplanTUI Version 1.0.2
NetplanTUI – Version 1.0.2
Networking, Validation & UI Enhancements
IP & CIDR Handling
- Added robust IPv4 and IPv6 validation for both single IPs and CIDR notation.
- Supports host-address CIDRs (e.g.,
192.168.0.1/24) and automatically normalizes them to proper network prefixes (e.g.,192.168.0.0/24) in YAML output. - Invalid input is preserved and displayed with inline token highlighting, allowing users to fix only the incorrect parts.
IPv4 / IPv6 Mode Support
- Introduced an IP Mode toggle: IPv4, IPv6, or Both.
- YAML generation adapts based on the selected mode:
- Correctly sets
dhcp4/dhcp6 - Outputs only the relevant address and gateway fields
- Adds support for separate
gateway4andgateway6when both protocols are enabled.
- Correctly sets
Nameserver Validation
- Nameservers are individually validated as IPv4/IPv6 addresses.
- Supports comma-separated lists with inline highlighting for invalid entries.
Interface Discovery
- Detects system interfaces using getifaddrs.
- Interfaces are shown in a selectable list, simplifying the “Interface Name” input.
DHCP-Aware UI
- When DHCP is enabled, address/gateway/nameserver fields are automatically hidden to reduce clutter.
Help Menu
- Added an in-app Help screen explaining:
- Field purposes
- CIDR rules
- Validation behavior
- YAML generation logic
YAML Generation Improvements
- YAML preview now includes:
dhcp4/dhcp6gateway4/gateway6- Normalized CIDR addresses
- Validated nameservers block
- Preview displayed in the TUI before writing config files.
NetplanTUI Version 1.0
1.0 – Added CIDR Input & Validation
Added support for entering IP addresses in CIDR notation (e.g., 192.168.1.10/24).
Implemented a CIDR syntax validator to ensure:
IP is a valid IPv4 address
CIDR prefix is in range 0–32
No invalid characters, missing segments, or malformed masks
Invalid CIDR entries now show an inline TUI error dialog instead of allowing bad configuration to be written.
Improved form logic so address fields with missing or invalid CIDR masks cannot proceed to YAML generation.
Updated generated Netplan YAML to correctly apply:
addresses:
- 192.168.1.10/24
General code cleanup and validation hardening for edge cases.
