System Overview

1. Navigation and Layout

  • Header: The application header includes navigation links for Home, Manage Rules, Generate Documents, and Settings, allowing users to easily navigate between different sections of the system.

2. System Settings

  • General Settings
    • University Name: Displays the name of the institution (e.g., The University of Western Australia).
    • Current Academic Year: Allows setting the academic year (e.g., 2023-2024).
  • Document Generation
    • PDF Template: Selection of templates for PDF generation (e.g., Template 2).
    • Handbook Format: Selection of formats for the handbook (e.g., PDF).
  • User Management
    • Default User Role: Setting default user roles (e.g., Editor).
  • Save Button: A button to save all settings changes.

3. Manage Course Rules

  • Form to Add/Edit Course Rules
    • Select Course Type: Dropdown menu for selecting the course type.
    • Course Code: Input field for entering the course code.
    • Course Name: Input field for entering the course name.
    • Course Description: Input field for entering the course description.
    • Save Rule Button: Button to save new or edited course rules.
  • Existing Rules List
    • Table Columns: Displays course code, course name, type, and actions (Edit/Delete).
    • Example Entries: Lists existing courses with their respective details, such as:
      • CITS1401: Computational Thinking with Python (conversion)
      • CITS1402: Relational Database Management Systems (conversion)
      • CITS2002: Systems Programming (conversion)
      • CITS2005: Object Oriented Programming (conversion)
      • AUTO4508: Mobile Robots (option)
    • Actions: Edit and Delete buttons for managing existing rules.

4. Generate Documentation

  • Generate PDF for Specific Course
    • Course Selection: Dropdown menu for selecting a specific course.
    • Generate Course PDF Button: Button to generate a PDF document for the selected course.
  • Generate Complete Handbook
    • Generate Full Handbook PDF Button: Button to generate a complete handbook in PDF format containing all course rules.
  • Export All Rules
    • Export Rules as JSON Button: Button to export all course rules in JSON format, facilitating data sharing and integration with other systems.
