📣 Please read — big installation change is coming!
A major quality-of-life improvement is on the way ✨: I’ve found a way to bundle the Lovelace card + the sync integration into a single install 🎉
This means that in v3.0.0 you will need to do a one-time migration 🧰 to ensure nothing gets lost.
✅ No functional changes are included in this update — this is information only to prepare everyone ahead of time.
🔥 What’s changing in v3.0.0?
-
🧩 The card and the integration will be installed/managed together.
-
📦 After setup, the integration will automatically install the card into your
wwwfolder. -
🧠 It will also auto-add the card to Resources (similar to how HACS does it) ✅
-
🏷️ The integration name will change:
- Thermostat Pro Timeline Sync ➜ Thermostat Pro Timeline
🛟 What you MUST do when v3.0.0 releases
1) 💾 Backup your card configuration (IMPORTANT!)
- Create a backup of your card config/file 🧾
- Save it under a different name than the card normally uses 🛡️ (to reduce the risk of it being overwritten/deleted)
2) 🧹 Fully remove the old setup
- ❌ Uninstall the card (make sure it’s completely removed from Home Assistant)
- ❌ Uninstall the integration
3) 📥 Install the new combined integration
- ✅ Install “Thermostat Pro Timeline Sync” (name will change to “Thermostat Pro Timeline”)
- 🔁 Restart Home Assistant
4) ⚙️ Set it up again in Devices
-
Go to Settings → Devices & Services 🧭
-
Set up the integration as you did before ✅
-
Once configured, the integration will automatically:
- 📁 Install the card into your
wwwfolder - 🧩 Add it to Resources
- 📁 Install the card into your
5) 🌐 Hard refresh your browser
- Do a hard refresh of Home Assistant 🔄
- In Google Chrome: Ctrl + Alt + R ⌨️
✅ After this, you should see the card exactly like before 👀✨
♻️ Restoring your backup (easy method)
To get your old backup working again, the easiest approach is:
- 🆕 Create a new backup right away (after reinstall)
- 📂 Open the file you saved before uninstalling
- 📋 Copy the content
- 📌 Paste it into the newly created (likely empty) backup file
- 💾 Save
🔁 Home Assistant won’t automatically ask for a restart just because you changed the backup file — but it’s still a good idea to restart anyway ✅ to ensure everything is fully reloaded and applied.
Then you should be able to load your old backup again 🎯
🙏 Final note
I hope this change won’t cause too many issues 🤞💙 — the goal is to make installation and updates much easier for everyone going forward 🚀✨
If you run into anything unexpected during v3.0.0 migration, please open an issue with logs and screenshots 🐞🧠📸
