Release list
QtDMM 26.1-rc2
Second release candidate for QtDMM 26.1, with the fixes and feedback since rc1. Please test and report problems at https://github.com/qtdmm/QtDMM/issues.
Downloads: Linux AppImage (x86_64), Windows installer (.exe) and portable ZIP. Fedora packages are built in COPR. For other Linux distributions, macOS and FreeBSD: build from source (see https://qtdmm.de/docs/).
Still to come before 26.1 final
- The analog meter gets some fine-tuning:
- the left readout becomes MIN (matching MAX on the right), because "CURRENT" is easily misread as electric current
- long unit labels such as "V DIODE" will fit
- the unit label sits directly on the dial
- we are also reconsidering the inner percent scale
- A macOS disk image (.dmg) is planned after rc2. The macOS app bundle already has its icon.
Known issues
- No Bluetooth on macOS yet.
- UNI-T UT61B+/D+/E+ and UT161 are implemented from the vendor's protocol tables but not yet confirmed on real hardware. Reports are welcome.
Fixes
- AppImage: command-line options (--version, --config-id, ...) reach QtDMM again
- The settings dialog fits small screens (1080p on Windows): pages scroll, and the dialog stays on screen
- Recorder: the time window no longer comes out stretched after scrolling when the sample time is not 0.1 s
- Alarm messages say "Alarm 1: ..." instead of "Alarm Alarm 1: ..."
- No "could not load translation" warning under an English or C locale
Improvements
- A new instance starts with the settings of the current one; only the meter has to be chosen
- Brymen BM869s confirmed on hardware (thanks to the tester); settings saved with rc1 keep the meter
- App icon as scalable SVG: installed for Linux/BSD desktops. The macOS bundle icon and a new 256 px Windows icon are made from it
- Man page rewritten: all options, files and examples, version and date from the build
Packaging and build
- Fedora: RPM packaging and COPR builds (thanks to tuxmaster), GPL-3.0-or-later license, translations as files via %find_lang
- New CMake option QTDMM_EMBED_TRANSLATIONS=OFF: installs the translations as .qm files for distribution packages
- gcc and clang warnings fixed (thanks to tuxmaster). CI builds treat warnings as errors (option QTDMM_WERROR)
- The handbook test no longer depends on the CPU speed (it failed on RISC-V)
- Security policy (SECURITY.md): please report vulnerabilities privately through GitHub

QtDMM 26.1-rc1
First release candidate for QtDMM 26.1, the first release since 0.9.8 (2017). Please test and report problems at https://github.com/qtdmm/QtDMM/issues.
Downloads: Linux AppImage (x86_64), Windows installer (.exe) and portable ZIP. For Linux distributions, macOS and FreeBSD: build from source (see https://qtdmm.de/docs/).
Version numbers: QtDMM now uses calendar versioning YY.N (26.1 = first release of 2026; 26.1-rc1 its first release candidate). Details: docs/dev/releasing.md.
Known issues in rc1
- The AppImage ignores command-line options (
--version,--config-id, ...); fixed for rc2. - No Bluetooth on macOS yet.
- UNI-T UT61B+/D+/E+ and UT161 are implemented from the vendor's protocol tables but not yet confirmed on real hardware.
- on windows config dialog can exceed screen height. If you dont see OK/Cancel buttons, press ENTER for OK and ESC to abort
Platforms, build and packaging
- Calendar versioning YY.N (26.1, 26.1-rc1, 26.1.1, see calver.org), taken from git tags - no manual version bumps
- Qt Charts for the recorder graph (replaces the own plotting code)
- Windows build (MSVC, ZIP and Inno Setup installer) and FreeBSD build, both in CI
- Arch/CachyOS fixes ported from duke2421's fork
- Unit tests for decoders, IPC and I/O; decoder fixtures generated from protocol specs
- Doxygen developer documentation, handbook built into the app (help browser) and published on qtdmm.de
- Translations: German, Spanish, French, Polish
- Project moved to github.com/qtdmm/QtDMM, AppStream id is now io.github.qtdmm.qtdmm
- Release builds from version tags: Linux AppImage, Windows installer and ZIP; DEB and RPM packaging fixed
- Known limit: no Bluetooth on macOS yet (the macOS build leaves it out)
Meters and connections
- Device table split into vendor and model, with chip and connection columns
- Fluke 87-IV/89-IV/187/189/287/289 (IR cable) and Fluke 45 bench meter
- Brymen meters over the BU-86X USB-HID cable
- Keysight, Agilent, HP and Siglent bench meters through sigrok-cli
- UNI-T UT-D09 cable in both revisions (CP2110 and CH9329)
- UNI-T UT60BT over Bluetooth LE; UT61B+/D+/E+ (UT-D09, UT-D07B) and UT161B/D/E
- Victron SmartShunt/BMV, SmartSolar/BlueSolar MPPT and Phoenix inverter (encrypted Bluetooth LE advertisements)
- More meters and decoder chips from data sheets and sigrok; meters that need a hardware modification are marked
- qtdmm-bridge: serve serial and USB-HID meters over the network (RFC 2217, mDNS), found by QtDMM automatically
- Connection watchdog with automatic reconnect
- Multiple instances with instance manager; calculated values as a formula over other instances; virtual meter
Display and recording
- New digit display and an analog meter, both as lockable dock panels
- Readings table with every value the meter sent
- Alarms: named conditions with banner, beep, popup, program call and graph marks
- Export as CSV, Excel (.xlsx) and OpenDocument (.ods); graph as SVG, PDF, PNG or JPEG
- CSV import of recordings, sample time taken from the timestamps
- SCPI server: other programs (lxi-tools, PyVISA, ...) read the meter over the network, announced by mDNS
- Keyboard shortcuts everywhere, settings dialog cleaned up
