Imagix is a lightweight Chrome Manifest V3 extension that previews images and Reddit-hosted videos on hover. It has dedicated targeting for old Reddit and current Reddit: post thumbnails and media are included, while avatars, awards, sidebar images, and other interface graphics are ignored.
- Open
chrome://extensions. - Enable Developer mode.
- Choose Load unpacked and select this folder.
If Imagix was already loaded, click its Reload button on chrome://extensions, then refresh any tabs that were open before the reload. Chrome does not inject updated content scripts into already-open pages automatically.
The popup controls preview size, hover delay, muted video playback, and whether post titles/source dimensions are shown. On Reddit, tiny preview.redd.it thumbnails are upgraded to their original i.redd.it image whenever available. Reddit video posts use the signed DASH metadata already supplied by Reddit and choose an efficient video-only stream capped around 720p. On other sites, Imagix prefers the largest available srcset/picture candidate and linked originals.
