v0.5.0
AIC Operator v0.5.0
This release updates APIs, improves clean-node driver loading and introduces the long-running QAIC Device Agent with QMonitor support.
Highlights
- Replaced the one-shot SOC Reset operand with the QAIC Device Agent.
- Added QMonitor gRPC service support for device monitoring and SBL updates.
- Fixed QAIC driver loading on clean nodes.
- Updated the CRD API group from aic.quicinc.com to aic.qualcomm.com.
API changes
- The API group is now:
apiVersion: aic.qualcomm.com/v1 - The previous SOC Reset fields have been replaced with:
spec: deviceAgentImage: <image> deviceAgentVersion: <version> - Existing resources using the old API group or socResetImage fields must be migrated.
Operational notes
- The Device Agent uses host networking and listens on TCP port 62472.
- Only one Device Agent/QMonitor instance should run per node.
- The Device Agent remains privileged for access to host QAIC devices.
- KMM driver images are kernel-specific and must be rebuilt following a node kernel upgrade.
- Registry credentials referenced by imageRepoSecret require both pull and push access for KMM in-cluster builds.

✨ New Features
QMonitor gRPC Support to enable SBL Firmware Updates
🔧 Improvements & Enhancements
Firmware Handling & Driver Module Loading
- Updated firmware paths in the KMM Dockerfile to correctly source updates from /firmware/updates.
- Improved multi-stage driver build flow for cleaner and faster compilation.
- Added explicit module loading order for QAIC driver dependencies
(qaic → qrtr-mhi → switchtec → mhi). - Implemented logic to remove in-tree kernel modules before loading the built modules.
Enabled DNF caching in controller images to significantly reduce build time.
Build System Reorganization
- Moved files from manual_install/* into operands/* for clearer structure.
- Removed obsolete manual installation documentation.
🧹 Cleanup
- Removed outdated files from the test/ directory.
- Dropped UBI point‑release version tags since DNF upgrades make them unnecessary and increase image size/time.

v0.3.0
- Introduced SoC reset support for QAIC devices on OCP, following AIC Custom Resource creation.
- Updated the firmware path on host to /lib/firmware.
- KMM 2.3.0 now supports listing a module name in the inTreeModulesToRemove field even if the module is not currently installed on the host. This enhancement has been integrated into the AIC operator.
- Pinned Go version to 1.23.9 for consistent builds.
- Removed dependency on the KMM Module CRD in the ClusterServiceVersion file due to recent issues with the latest KMM CRD.

New Features:
- Added support for creating NodeFeatureRule (NFR) from within the controller.
- Upgraded Golang to version 1.23.
- Added support for OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) version 4.18.
