Two-way sync?

VS Code supports two-way sync for Markdown documents. That is, if you scroll in the source the preview will sync to the corresponding locations and vice versa. This would be a really useful feature for the Quarto Preview too – is this planned by any chance?

Yes, this would be enormously helpful. Also, when rendering to a revealjs slideshow it would be great if the preview jumped to the slide containing the currently selected element in the code file. As it stands, everytime I want to see what my updated slide looks like I have to scroll through the entire slide deck which is beyond annoying and a serious impediment to any slideshow creation workflow. Yes, I can select the slide from the revealjs slide menu, but that is still multiple extra clicks for every edit.

@marcel-goldschen-ohm Syncing to the currently active slide in the editor should now be working correctly.

While we don't yet have preview syncing, we do now have a visual editing mode. Details on this here: https://quarto.org/docs/visual-editor/vscode/

Quick question, if I render on save, can I control what slide the preview shows by where my cursor is, or where the scrollbar is, or anything like that? It seems "close" to where I want it to be but never exactly. Wondering if I'm missing something...

The preview shows up beside the currently active editor. You can move it around after that and as long as you are editing/previewing the same document it will update in place.
