v2.8

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 17:06

Adds two selectable Forecast Channel weather modes:

  • On by default: hold B before the title screen to disable weather for the session.
  • Off by default: hold B before the title screen to enable weather for the session.

Both modes support Wii Remote and Classic Controller B on all 11 supported revisions. The patcher retains ID4 mod matching and existing patch-site checks.

Validation: host weather and loader tests, patch injection tests for all revisions, and 198 checks of the bundled PowerPC code.

v2.7

@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Oct 16:52

Supports modded disc images with the same first four game ID characters (ID4), even when the last two characters differ from the retail ID6. The original disc ID, filename, and backup behavior are preserved. Existing revision and executable patch-site checks remain in place; mods that alter required patch sites may be incompatible.

Downloads include Windows x86_64, macOS universal, and Linux x86_64 patchers.

ACCF-Patcher v2.5

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 03:51

ACCF-Patcher v2.5

Patcher with three independent options, all on by default: SDHC card support, GameCube controller (port 1) and Forecast Channel weather.

Requirements

  • Your own .wbfs / .iso of Animal Crossing: City Folk (no game files are included).
  • IOS: with a USB loader, set IOS to 249 and Block IOS Reload to On. The disc's stock IOS 38 cannot initialize SDHC cards. (Korean discs use IOS 48 but already support SDHC.)
  • SDHC: an SD card formatted FAT32.
  • GameCube controller: a pad in port 1. A GameCube pad has no HOME button, so the HOME Menu still needs a Wii Remote.
  • Weather: the Forecast Channel installed on the Wii, with its WiiConnect24 forecast data already downloaded (open the Forecast Channel once while online). Without it the game keeps its normal weather.
  • Weather can be disabled by holding B while booting, before the title screen.
  • The patcher apps bundle everything they need and are unsigned (macOS: right-click, Open).

ACCF-Patch v2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 14:28

What's new in v2.1

  • Fixed: the patcher launches again. The v2.0 apps stopped at start-up because part of the new code wasn't bundled into them.
  • Fixed: the GameCube pad's left stick did nothing. The game reads the left stick from the second status entry, and the pad only supplied one per frame. It now supplies two, like a Wii Remote.
  • Renamed the app to ACCF-Patcher (it patches more than SDHC now), and the Gecko/Riivolution zips to ACCF-Patch-*.
  • City Folk Deluxe discs fit the GameCube patch in the little low memory they have left.

Patcher options

SDHC card support (on by default) · GameCube controller in port 1 · Forecast Channel weather (needs the local weather_patches.json, see tools/weather).

Korean discs already support SDHC; for them only the controller and weather options apply.

Not tried on a console yet: the left-stick fix. Controller and weather were checked in Dolphin.

ACCF-Patch v2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 14:00

Known problem: the patcher apps in this release do not launch (No module named 'patch_dol'). Use v2.1, which fixes it. The Gecko and Riivolution zips here are fine.

What's new in v2.0

  • GameCube controller support (port 1): the pad shows up to the game as a Classic Controller, with the pointer on the C-stick. No Wii Remote needed. All 7 retail builds and the 4 City Folk Deluxe discs. Per-revision Gecko codes included.
  • Forecast Channel weather for every revision (before, Deluxe USA only). It needs a one-time local build from your own Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics disc (tools/weather/build_all.py), so the patcher's weather checkbox stays disabled in these downloads.
  • The patcher gets SDHC / GameCube controller / weather as independent checkboxes.
  • The Gecko and Riivolution zips are now named ACCF-Patch-*.

(In v2.0 the weather checkbox is disabled in the downloads; use v2.3 or later.)

ACCF-SDHC v1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@quatric quatric released this 30 Aug 22:00

SDHC (>2 GB) SD card support for Animal Crossing: City Folk on Wii. This allows you to save in-game pictures to an SDHC card.

Make sure to set IOS to 249 and Block IOS Reload to On when using USB Loader

City Folk's SD driver only understands standard-capacity cards — byte addressing
and a CSD v1 capacity record. This patch reads the OCR CCS bit at mount time,
parses CSD v2 capacity, and switches the read/write paths to block addressing
when the card is SDHC. Ported from SDHC Extension 1.1 [Bero]

All 6 retail builds are covered: USA Rev 0/1, Japan Rev 1/2, Europe Rev 0/1.

What's Changed in v1.2

  • Added support for larger SD cards

Before you start

  • Your SD card should be FAT32.
  • Keep the backup the patcher makes. The patch cannot be cleanly reversed in place.

Instructions

  1. Download ACCF-SDHC-Patcher for your platform below and open it.

    • macOS: ACCF-SDHC-Patcher-macos-universal.zip
    • Windows: ACCF-SDHC-Patcher-windows-x86_64.zip
    • Linux: ACCF-SDHC-Patcher-linux-x86_64.tar.gz

    These are unsigned, so your OS will warn about them. On macOS, right-click the
    app and choose Open.

  2. Drag your .wbfs or .iso onto the window (or click to browse).

  3. Wait for done: patched in place. The patcher reads the disc's own ID and
    revision, applies the matching patch, and rebuilds the image in place —
    keeping the original filename and folder, because USB loaders key off the
    /wbfs/<Title> [ID6]/ layout. Your original is saved alongside as
    <name>.bak.

  4. Copy the image back to your USB drive or SD card and launch it as usual.

The patcher refuses any disc it doesn't recognise rather than guessing, so it
cannot apply the wrong addresses. If it reports the disc doesn't match the
expected site map, it's either already patched or a build this port doesn't know.

Do not patch Korean discs

RUUK01 and RUUK02 ship a newer PFD library that already supports SDHC
natively. Patching them is redundant and risks double-converting block addresses.

Installing by hand

ACCF-SDHC-Gecko-Codes.zip and ACCF-SDHC-Riivolution.zip are for anyone who
would rather not run an unsigned app. They need no tooling, but they also have no
safety net — so check your disc first:

python3 tools/identify.py "Animal Crossing - City Folk (USA).wbfs"

It prints your disc ID, revision, and the exact filenames to use.

RUUE01, RUUJ01 and RUUP01 each cover two revisions under one disc ID, and
each revision needs different addresses.
That is why every file is named
RUUE01v0, RUUE01v1 and so on — never rename them to a bare disc ID. Applying
the wrong revision's patch lands all ten sites on unrelated instructions: at best
the card comes up as an unknown device, at worst the title crashes.

Riivolution XMLs match on the disc version byte as well as the game ID and cannot
misapply. Gecko codes cannot do this — cheat managers match the 6-character ID
only — so picking the right file is on you.

Note the Gecko form needs a code handler. The patched main.dol produced by the
patcher does not.
