Windows ships. VAND now runs on Windows 10/11 (64-bit), with the local AI engine bundled inside the installer — no setup, no separate download, nothing to configure.

What's in it

  • Private AI built in. Pulls its model (~1 GB) once on first run, then works fully offline.
  • Habits, fitness, nutrition, sleep, mood, journal, insights.
  • Encrypted local storage (AES-256-GCM). No account, no cloud, no telemetry.

Fixes

  • Packaged app launched invisible — the window never showed.
  • Chat used an embedding model, so replies rendered as [object Object].
  • Cannot find module './quicksync' — the build allowlist was missing shipped files (detector.js too, which would have crashed the macOS build identically).
  • The bundled engine was never found on Windows, so the built-in AI could never start.

Install

Windows flags any installer that isn't signed with a paid EV certificate. Click More info -> Run anyway — a one-time prompt.

Some newer Windows 11 PCs run Smart App Control, which is stricter and can block unsigned apps outright with no "run anyway". If VAND won't open at all, that's why. Turning it off is permanent, so we don't suggest it — it's the honest trade-off of shipping unsigned while VAND is free.

macOS

Unchanged — stay on v0.11.0. The 0.12.0 DMGs need a Mac to build and aren't out yet; vand.space still serves 0.11.0 to Mac users.
