🟢 The git & fit Manifesto

Your AI wrote 4,000 lines today. The only muscle you used was your trapezius — and it's filing a complaint.

git & fit is a VS Code extension that nudges you off your chair for a 3-minute exercise break after a meaningful commit. The machine does the reps in the editor. You do the reps at the desk.

1. Initialize

We are developers. We live in terminals, ship to prod at midnight, and forget to ship to our bodies. The AI ships the slop. We stay swole. Health is not a side project — it's the master branch.

2. Status Check

Your repo is messy. So is your posture.

  • Your spine: in merge conflict.
  • Your wrists: throwing warnings.
  • Your health: needs attention.

Your copilot autocompletes functions all day. It will never autocomplete a push-up. That part's on you — and every repo can be refactored.

3. First Commit

No PR is too small. Stand. Stretch. Breathe. Push one push-up. Refactor your posture. // TODO: fix this later is what the AI said about your hamstrings, too.

1 life changed, ∞ possibilities added.

4. Build Together

Fitness is not a solo project. The AI generated the bug. We're all debugging our bodies together. We don't review each other's variable names — we review each other's form. We're in this slouch together.

5. Scale the System

As our strength grows, so do our branches:

  • From solo streaks → to team stand-ups (the literal kind).
  • From terminal reminders → to habits that outlive the sprint.
  • From memes → to movements.

It compiles. You lunge.

6. Deploy Your Potential

We debug our posture. We refactor our strength. We deploy our potential.

This is not just fitness. This is git & fitCalisthenics for Software Developers.

🛠️ Getting Started

  1. Install from the VS Code Marketplace: git & fit.
  2. Commit code like you always do.
  3. When you ship something real, git & fit taps you on the shoulder — take the break. A short demo plays; you follow along. That's it.

No new CLI to learn, no habit to log by hand. Your commits already do the tracking; your body just has to show up.

🤝 Community Guidelines

  • Be kind, be helpful — review form, not people.
  • Encourage, don't discourage.
  • No ego lifting — ship small, frequent commits.
  • Roast the slop and yourself, never the person next to you.

📌 Contribute Energy, Not PRs

git & fit is closed-source, so there's no repo to fork — but there's still plenty to give:

  • Suggest an exercise or report a bug via Issues.
  • Share your streak and drag a teammate off their chair.
  • Spread the memes. If a commit -m "looks fine" made you laugh and wince, you already get it.
