CarPlay wireless adapters (and iOS 27.2 cars without the in-car video window)

• Fixed: the adapter showed no picture, or dropped it after the first frame. Casts to a CarPlay adapter now hold a stable picture.
• Videos cast to an adapter play full screen in HD, with the car bar (back, play/pause, title, next, picture size), the car's knob and touch, and the steering-wheel keys.
• The video's sound plays in the car and the phone stays silent; Cast Screen and Cast tab send their sound to the car too.
• Pick another video on the phone and the car switches without reconnecting; casting again right after stopping works.
• Stop casting really stops: from the cast icon, or by ending the screen broadcast.
• The cast list shows each adapter by model, e.g. "YCast (CarPlay)", with its address when two look alike; "Join car Wi-Fi" is always offered and only auto-casts to the car.
• Crash fixes when reconnecting to an adapter and for long videos (out of memory).

• A clear "Start Casting" button; the sheet closes once the broadcast starts.

Other

• The car bar follows YouTube's main video on watch pages.
• Captcha checks (Cloudflare Turnstile) no longer hang at "Verifying".

• YouTube at 1080p/720p, fetched directly, so it keeps playing with the phone locked. Choose the quality in Settings > YouTube cast quality (1080p, 720p or 360p).
• YouTube auto-plays the next video and plays playlists in order.
• Car video toolbar: play/pause, skip and fit/fill, with rotary-knob support and a focus box.
• In-video controls on the phone show the resolution (360p/720p/1080p) and stay in step with the car.
• iOS 27.2: car video through CarPlay's video-playback support.
• The cast picker always lists "Car Screen" (greyed out with no car connected).
• Unplugging the car ends the cast; playback resumes after a phone call.
• Parked gate on by default, with a more reliable parked check; cafari://developer turns it off.
• Fixes for videos stuck loading and casting to Chromecast from more sites.

iOS versions

• Works: iOS 26.4 and later, and iOS 27.0.
• Not yet: iOS 27.2 (beta). Wait for an update if you are on the 27.2 beta; iOS 27.0 works.

What's new: wireless CarPlay adapters

• The picture now holds on the head unit. Earlier builds showed a few frames and then went black.
• Stopping a cast hands the screen back to the car, which returns to its own home screen with CarPlay still connected.
• After joining the adapter's Wi-Fi, Cafari casts to it straight away instead of showing the picker a second time.
• Joining the adapter's Wi-Fi retries by itself when the adapter is restarting its access point.

Tip: if you have just used wireless CarPlay with the adapter, disconnect Bluetooth from it before casting with Cafari. While a phone is paired over Bluetooth the adapter stays in its own CarPlay mode and will not accept Cafari's session.

Tab cast vs Cast Screen: a tab cast stops if you switch to another app, because iOS pauses in-app screen capture. Use Cast Screen when you want to keep using other apps while it plays.

Re-signing with your own Apple ID removes the CarPlay entitlements, so the car's own CarPlay screen may not work on a self-signed install. Casting to Chromecast, AirPlay receivers and CarPlay adapters works either way.

Re-signing with your own Apple ID removes the CarPlay entitlements, so video on the car's own screen needs a build signed by us. Casting to Chromecast and AirPlay receivers works either way.

• YouTube to the car at page quality, and in 360p mode, both playing the queue on by themselves
• Tab casting and Cast Screen rotate correctly in landscape
• Cast Screen sends the whole phone and keeps running when you switch apps
• A video on the car screen now counts as a cast: the icon lights up and offers Stop casting

• Fixes for two crashes when stopping a cast, and for a frozen picture on AirPlay receivers
