What it does:
Automatically applies your chosen template to every new note in Obsidian.

Features:

  • βœ… Set once, forget forever - Choose any template file, never manually insert again
  • βœ… Works everywhere - Ctrl+N, clicking non-existent links, any note creation method
  • βœ… Template variables - Processes {{date}}, {{time}}, {{title}}
  • βœ… Zero interference - No template selected? Plugin does nothing

Installation:

πŸ“ Easy Way: Download ZIP

  1. Download obsidian-default-template-v1.0.0.zip below
  2. Extract to VaultFolder/.obsidian/plugins/
  3. Restart Obsidian β†’ Settings β†’ Community Plugins β†’ Enable

πŸ“„ Manual Way: Individual Files

  1. Download main.js, manifest.json, styles.css below
  2. Create folder VaultFolder/.obsidian/plugins/obsidian-default-template/
  3. Copy all 3 files into the folder
  4. Restart Obsidian β†’ Settings β†’ Community Plugins β†’ Enable

Quick Start:

  1. Enable the plugin in Settings β†’ Community Plugins
  2. Go to plugin settings β†’ click "Select template"
  3. Choose any .md file from your vault
  4. Done! Every new note gets your template automatically

This solves a 3+ year old user request for automatic template application in Obsidian.
