Dependency Updates
- Upgrade to Android Gradle Plugin 8.1.1:
- The Android Gradle Plugin has been updated to 8.1.1 to ensure compatibility with the latest Android development standards. This upgrade aligns the project with Gradle 8 and R8, improving build performance and preparing for the upcoming Android SDK changes.
- Important Notice: Although the project now supports compileSdk 34, the current Android Gradle Plugin version may generate warnings about compatibility. We recommend updating to the latest version of the plugin as soon as it is available to ensure smooth future builds.
Breaking Changes
- Increased Minimum Android SDK Version:
- The minimum Android SDK version has been raised to API level 23 (Android 6.0 - Marshmallow). This change ensures improved security and performance by aligning with modern Android development practices.
- Applications targeting older Android versions will need to update their
minSdkVersionto at least 23 to continue using this library.
These changes demonstrate our commitment to staying ahead of industry deprecations and improving the development experience. We encourage all users to update to this version to benefit from these enhancements, prepare for upcoming platform changes, and stay aligned with Android's latest standards.
