Second Brain Sync — v1.0.3

Focused update improving sync reliability and performance. This version removes the search UI in favor of using your Second Brain through MCP-compatible AI tools, while adding append functionality to update existing notes instead of creating duplicates.

What's New

Append Functionality

  • Update existing notes — Notes now append updates to existing entries instead of creating duplicates
  • Automatic tracking — Plugin stores a second-brain-id in your note's frontmatter to track synced entries
  • First sync creates, subsequent syncs append — Initial sync creates a new entry, all future syncs append updates with timestamps

Improved Auto-Sync

  • Configurable delay — Set how long to wait after you stop typing before syncing (3-30 seconds, default 5s)
  • No more spam — Auto-sync now waits for you to pause typing instead of syncing after every few words
  • Duplicate prevention — Fixed issue where notes would sync twice when frontmatter was modified

Streamlined Experience

  • Removed search UI — Search/recall functionality removed from plugin (use your Second Brain through Claude, ChatGPT, or other MCP-compatible tools)
  • Cleaner interface — Removed sidebar panel, search ribbon icon, and search command
  • Focus on sync — Plugin now focuses entirely on reliable note syncing

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed duplicate saves when frontmatter is modified during sync
  • Improved error handling with better JSON response parsing
  • Better connection error messages

Breaking Changes

  • Search/recall functionality has been removed from the plugin
  • To search your Second Brain, use MCP-compatible AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)

Requirements

  • Obsidian v1.7.2 or later
  • A deployed Second Brain MCP server on Cloudflare Workers with the /append endpoint (v1.1.0+)

Upgrade Notes

If you're upgrading from v1.0.0-1.0.2:

  1. The search sidebar and commands are no longer available
  2. Existing notes will automatically use append functionality on next sync
  3. Configure auto-sync delay in Settings → Second Brain Sync if needed
