@rahulroynipon rahulroynipon released this 14 Mar 00:34

We are proud to announce the release of LogSphere v1.2.1, a milestone update that elevates the library from a logging tool to a comprehensive observability suite for Node.js. This release focuses on structural resilience, hierarchical logging logic, and architectural clarity.

💎 Key Highlights in v1.2.1

🏛️ Architectural Resilience

  • Self-Healing File Streams: Implemented a proactive surveillance mechanism for log transports. The engine now detects external file deletions or directory shifts in real-time, automatically re-initializing streams without service interruption.
  • Unified Configuration Architecture: Standardized the configuration schema across configure() (Global Instance) and expressLogger() (Local Context), allowing for seamless inheritance and granular overrides.
  • Safe Path Exclusion: Refined route-silencing logic using prefix-matching and root-path safety guards to ensure critical system logs remain visible.

📊 Advanced Observability UI

  • Hierarchical Log Logic: Introduced a severity-weighted filtering system (DEBUG < INFO < WARN < ERROR). System configurations now support inclusive level-masking for cleaner production output.
  • Persistent Dashboard State: UI filters and search parameters now persist across auto-refresh cycles, enabling high-fidelity "Live Tailing" during active debugging sessions.
  • Premium Visual Assets: Integrated high-resolution Dark and Light mode previews into the documentation to showcase the modern glassmorphism UI.

👨‍💻 Developer Experience (DX) & Documentation

  • Re-engineered Documentation: The README.md has been rewritten with a "Solution-First" philosophy, featuring simplified setup "Recipes" and a 30-second quick-start guide.
  • TypeScript Parity: Full Type definitions for all new 1.2.x configuration parameters, ensuring 100% IntelliSense accuracy.
  • Professional Branding: Standardized author credentials and maintenance information for better community engagement and support.

v1.1.0 — Route Exclusion, minLevel Control, and ESM Support

Choose a tag to compare

@rahulroynipon rahulroynipon released this 13 Mar 21:25

✨ What's New in v1.1.0

🚫 Route Exclusion (excludePaths)

Added support for excluding specific routes or path prefixes from being logged by expressLogger.

Example:

app.use(LogSphere.expressLogger({
  excludePaths: ['/logs', '/static', '/health-check']
}));

This prevents noisy endpoints like dashboards, static assets, or health checks from cluttering your logs.

📊 Minimum Log Level (minLevel)

You can now configure the minimum log level captured by LogSphere.

Example:

LogSphere.configure({
  minLevel: 'INFO'
});

Available levels:

DEBUG → INFO → WARN → ERROR

Only logs at or above the configured level will be recorded.

🛠 Dashboard Logging Fix

Fixed an issue where the LogSphere dashboard (/logs) requests were being logged by the middleware, creating a feedback loop where the dashboard logged its own API requests.

LogSphere now automatically suppresses logging for its internal dashboard APIs.

📦 ESM Support

LogSphere now works seamlessly with modern ESM imports.

Example:

import { dashboard, expressLogger, info } from 'logsphere';

app.use(expressLogger());
app.use('/logs', dashboard());

Note: Both CommonJS (require) and ESM (import) are fully supported.

🔧 Upgrade

npm install logsphere@latest
