Highlights

  • Wikilinks & tags (Obsidian-compatible). [[Name]], [[Name|Alias]],
[[Name#Heading]] and ![[image.png]] resolve across all pinned folders,
with locality-aware ranking (same folder wins over other projects), a
backlinks panel below the TOC, [[-autocomplete in the editor and a tag
    browser in the vault rail.
  • Command palette. Ctrl+P opens a fuzzy finder over open tabs, recent
and vault files; type > for commands and # to jump to headings.
  • Vault search, fully grown. Dialog-first UI with regex mode, file-type
filters (Markdown / all text / custom extensions), an open-tabs scope, an
opt-in for hidden/ignored files and a parallel search walk.
  • Git in the vault. Status dots for modified/untracked entries, a
read-only diff against HEAD ("Show changes"), a git marker on tabs, and a
    "changed only" tree filter.
  • Vault file operations. Create folders, rename (open tabs below migrate
their paths), duplicate, move via cut & paste, delete to the system trash.
  • Hex view. Binary files open read-only as a hex dump, including search
    by text or byte sequence.
  • Zen mode. Shift+F11 hides all chrome; F11 toggles fullscreen.
  • Encodings & line endings. Windows-1252 and UTF-16 files open and save
round-trip-faithfully; the status bar shows cursor position, selection
stats, the detected encoding and a clickable LF/CRLF switcher.
  • More viewing comfort. Clickable task checkboxes in view/split/preview,
image zoom & pan, live code view in split mode, a vault tree filter
(name + markdown-only), a "show hidden entries" setting, and text files
with unknown extensions or dotfile names now open as text.

Bug fixes

  • Windows: no more console-window storm. Every git status refresh used
to flash one terminal window per pinned repository (and the focus loop
kept it going forever). Git child processes now start with
    CREATE_NO_WINDOW.
  • Windows: delete to trash works with open tabs. Moving a folder to the
recycle bin failed while a file below it was open in a tab (the file
watcher's directory handle blocked the shell operation). Watchers are now
suspended around the trash call and restored on failure.
  • Cross-device moves keep the source intact when symlinks cannot be copied
(no silent data loss), and case-only renames (Foo → foo) work on
    case-insensitive file systems.
  • Window geometry restore clamps off-screen positions (no more invisible
    window after unplugging a monitor).

Known limitations

  • 0.x beta: published as a pre-release. Workspace/panel-state formats may
    still change between minor versions.
  • The macOS build is Intel (x86_64) and only tested on Intel Macs; there
is no native Apple Silicon build yet.
  • macOS shows a Gatekeeper warning: the app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized.
Open it once via right-click → Open, or run
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Folio.app.
  • Native menu accelerators (Ctrl+S/Z/W …) don't fire reliably everywhere; the
frontend intercepts the most important ones via DOM handlers.
  • Windows shows a SmartScreen warning (unsigned binary).
