First public release of Aster — a native macOS terminal workspace built in pure AppKit, powered by the Ghostty terminal engine.

Highlights

  • Ghostty engine: production PTY, VT state and Metal rendering via an internal libghostty build

Install

Download Aster-0.4.1.dmg, open it and drag Aster.app into Applications.

The app is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple — it opens without Gatekeeper warnings.

Requires macOS 14+ (Apple Silicon).
