Tracekeep v0.4.0

Tracekeep is a local-first second brain for Codex. Meaningful completed turns can become sourced Learning Notes automatically, while proposed actions and decisions remain reviewable before they affect Today.

Highlights

  • Conversation-first automatic capture for meaningful completed Codex turns
  • Sourced Learning Notes, open loops, decisions, Review, Today, and local FTS5 search
  • Local-only tracekeepd service with schema v4 SQLite storage
  • Portable Windows 10/11 x64 package with bundled Node.js v24.14.1
  • No administrator rights, API key, paid provider, or hosted Tracekeep account required

Install on Windows

  1. Download Tracekeep-Windows-x64.zip and Tracekeep-Windows-x64.zip.sha256.
  2. Verify the checksum, then extract the complete ZIP to a writable folder.
  3. Double-click Install Tracekeep.cmd.
  4. Restart Codex, open Plugins → Tracekeep, and click Connect.
  5. Start a new task and ask: What unfinished work should I resume?

Validation

  • 96 automated tests passed
  • all TypeScript checks and production builds passed
  • Windows package validation passed before and after ZIP extraction
  • bundled Node.js v24.14.1, schema v4, and 3 synthetic open-loop journeys verified
  • release source matches commit a8a6b8399e5780aedca0d47739d7b02b549395bd

Honest boundaries

This release does not claim unrestricted ChatGPT or Codex history access, cloud hosting, paid-provider integration, a completed 14-day Alpha, or proven retention metrics. Automatic capture covers meaningful turns completed while the trusted local Hook is installed and enabled. The package is not Authenticode-signed, so Windows may display a security warning.
