BMC64 5.2.0
BMC64 5.2.0
This release brings some major quality-of-life improvements to BMC64, with a big focus on easier updating, better remote management, and improved reliability.
Highlights include a new built-in update system, a significantly expanded Web UI with file management and editing features, support for large CMD HD and IDE64 disk images, and a collection of important fixes for SD card writes, USB devices (support for Keyrah V3 is added!), audio, and settings.
Highlights
1. New BMC64 updater
BMC64 can now update directly from a release ZIP placed on the SD card. The Web UI can also show the latest GitHub releases and upload an update package, ready to be installed on the next boot.
2. New Web UI
New Web UI has been added. You can now browse and manage files, create folders, rename and delete items, edit configuration files, create and edit C64 BASIC programs, attach cartridges, and click disk, tape, or PRG files to autostart them.
3. Large CMD HD and IDE64 image support
Hard-disk images larger than 32 MB no longer need to fit entirely in Raspberry Pi memory. They can now be streamed directly from the SD card, allowing images up to just under 2 GB.
4. Safer disk writes and reliability improvements
Disk writes are now flushed to the SD card to reduce the risk of data loss. There are also fixes for saving settings after repeated hard resets, partition mounting, USB connection reliability, and rare USB memory corruption.
Note: If you have any performance issues with the changes above set the "Prefs->Flush disk writes" to "On demand" to revert to the original behaviour and report an issue.
5. Audio, keyboard and hardware fixes
Pi Zero audio issues affecting volume-register digis have been fixed, along with improvements to USB keyboard Caps Lock support, 8BitDo Retro keyboards, Keyrah V3 support, and USB devices connected through the Raspberry Pi's onboard hub.
