Against the Storm Accessibility Mod v1.6.2

The game, its DLCs, and the demo are fully playable with this mod. All core gameplay mechanics are accessible via screen reader.

What's Changed

New features

  • World map: Q/E/D/C/Z/A move the hex cursor directly by direction (NW, NE, E, SE, SW, W), alongside the arrow keys which work unchanged. This allows for exact movement for those who understand how hex grids work.
  • World map: embark status and distance moved from D to H; end cycle moved from E to Ctrl+E, freeing D and E for hex navigation.
  • World map: Alt+H jumps the cursor back to the capital (Smoldering City), mirroring Alt+H in the settlement map.

Bug fixes

  • Embark: the "cannot afford" message now reports the correct point cost in non-English languages (it previously always said "Need 0 points").
  • Trader: an exactly-even trade is no longer rejected as unfair when many goods are offered, where floating-point rounding made the balance a fraction below zero.

Internal

  • Updated the vendored Prism speech library from v0.15.0 to v0.16.1.

Installation

  1. Locate your Against the Storm installation folder. The default for Steam is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Against the Storm
    Other platforms (GOG, Epic) will have different locations.

  2. Extract the contents of the zip file directly into the game folder.

  3. Launch the game. Your screen reader should announce "Main menu" when it loads.

Uninstallation

Delete the BepInEx folder, winhttp.dll, and doorstop_config.ini from your game folder.
