Nifty Timer for Windows 0.2.1 — pilot.

Coming from 0.1.0 or 0.2.0? Update by hand once. Those versions download updates in a way that fails on slower connections ("Update failed. You're still on the current version." after about 30 seconds). 0.2.1 fixes that, but the old version has to be replaced by hand to get it:

1. Quit Nifty Timer from its tray menu.
2. Download NiftyTimer-windows-pilot.zip below and extract it over the folder Nifty Timer runs from, replacing the files.
3. Start NiftyTimer.exe.

You stay signed in, and nothing recorded is lost. It lives in %LOCALAPPDATA%\NiftyTimer, not in the app folder. On a fast connection Update now in the tray menu may work too. From 0.2.1 on, updates install from the menu as normal.

What's new since 0.1.0

• Updates download reliably on slow connections.
• The tray icon no longer disappears. The app used to close silently when Windows briefly refused its icon (at login, or when a monitor was plugged in or a laptop docked). It now waits and retries.
• Opening the app while it's already running brings up its menu instead of starting a second copy.
• Brings the Windows app in line with the Mac app: a redesigned tray menu, project and task search, live Today / This week / This month totals, idle and forgot-to-start reminders, and a distraction nudge.
• An amber dot on the tray icon when something needs attention, and a brief lens icon when a screenshot is taken.

Unsigned pilot build: on first run Windows SmartScreen may say it protected your PC. Click More info → Run anyway.

Nifty Timer for Windows 0.2.0 — pilot.

Updating from 0.1.0: open the tray menu. It says A new version is available — click Update now. If it doesn't show yet, quit Nifty Timer from its menu and start it again: it checks for updates as it starts. The app closes, swaps itself and starts again on 0.2.0. Your running timer is stopped and saved first. If the app doesn't come back within a minute, start it again from its folder.

Verify the download against NiftyTimer-windows-pilot.zip.sha256 before running it; this build is unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn on first run.
