MailClean 1.7.1 — Security page
New: Security page
- The sidebar now has a Security section. App lock (your 6-digit PIN) lives here now, moved from Privacy.
- The Security page also explains how MailClean stores your app passwords, links to Apps & access so you can review which apps can reach your accounts, and explains how the local server only accepts requests from MailClean itself.

MailClean 1.7.0 — App lock
New: App lock
- Lock MailClean with a 6-digit PIN (Privacy → App lock). MailClean asks for it every time it opens. You can also lock it any time with the lock button at the bottom of the sidebar.
- After 5 wrong tries you have to wait before trying again: 30 seconds, then longer, up to 1 hour.
- Forgot your PIN? On the lock screen, choose Forgot PIN? and type RESET. MailClean removes all connected accounts, scanned data, rules and settings, plus the PIN, and starts fresh. Your mailboxes and emails are not changed. You can connect your accounts again straight away.
- The PIN is stored only as a secure hash on your computer. The app lock keeps out anyone else who opens MailClean on your computer. It isn't a substitute for your computer's own password or disk encryption.

MailClean 1.6.0 — Accounts and apps
New: Accounts and apps (sidebar → Apps & access)
-
Review app access. For each connected account there's a button that opens the provider's own page listing the apps that can access your account: Google, Yahoo, AOL, Apple, Microsoft or Zoho. Review and remove apps there. Quick links for Sign in with Apple, Facebook apps and Microsoft are included too.
-
Who has your email. Every company that has emailed you, grouped by website, with when they first and last emailed and how many emails they've sent. Tags show:
- Security alert for sign-in and account-security senders like Google and Microsoft
- Newsletter
- Quiet 1 yr+, often an old account you no longer use
You can search and filter, then Unsubscribe, find out how to Close account, or see that company's Emails.
-
Built from sender addresses MailClean already has. Nothing new is read from your mailbox.

MailClean 1.5.2 — No subject lines requested
Privacy improvement
- MailClean no longer requests email subject lines from Gmail, iCloud, Zoho or other IMAP mailboxes. It asks only for the sender, date and unsubscribe link. Yahoo and AOL only send whole header blocks, so MailClean reads the sender and unsubscribe link from them and discards the rest. Subject lines are never saved or shown.
- The privacy wording in the app and on the website now describes this exactly.

MailClean 1.5.1 — Cleaner Overview
Improved: a cleaner Overview
- The top card now shows how much space you can free up, along with your totals and a thin bar showing how your mail splits across accounts. Click an account to see only that inbox.
- Clean up next lists the quickest wins: senders you never open, mail older than a year, and newsletters. Each has a Review button.
- Gmail tabs is now a compact list beside it. Click a tab to filter by it.
- Each number appears once, so the page is about half as tall.
Fixed
- The Mostly unread filter, including the "senders you never open" link, showed an empty list. It now shows those senders.

MailClean 1.5.0 — Rules & cleaning suggestions
New: Rules that clean for you
- Rules page: "Move emails from this sender to Trash" or "Archive Gmail Promotions older than 30 days". Rules run after every sync, and every 6 hours while MailClean is open. Starred and important emails are always kept. Each rule shows how many emails it matches, and you can turn it off or run it now.
- Always trash: select senders and click Always trash to block them in one step. This is handy for senders with no unsubscribe link.
New: Cleaning suggestions
- Overview now suggests quick wins: senders you never open, mail older than a year, your Gmail Promotions and Social tabs, and newsletters. Click one to see the matching senders, already filtered.
New: Keep the newest emails
- When trashing or archiving, choose to keep the newest 1, 5, 10 or 25 emails from each sender (Senders page → Keep newest). Your choice is remembered.

MailClean 1.4.0 — Gmail tabs
New: Gmail tabs
- Filter by Gmail tab: a new category filter next to the date filter lets you look at just Primary, Promotions, Social, Updates, Forums or Purchases. Overview, Senders and Newsletters all follow it, so you can clean only your Promotions, for example.
- Gmail tabs card on Overview: how many emails are in each tab and how many you never opened. Click a tab to filter by it.
- Each sender's tab is shown next to its name, such as Promotions or Updates.
- Keep starred & important (on by default): when you trash or archive, emails you starred or that Gmail marked important are left alone.
After updating, MailClean rescans your Gmail accounts once to read the tabs. Other providers (Yahoo, iCloud, AOL, Zoho) have no tabs, so the filter only applies to Gmail mail.

MailClean 1.3.3 — Yahoo unsubscribe fix
Fixed
- Yahoo & AOL: unsubscribe now works. Yahoo's mail server didn't return unsubscribe information the way MailClean asked for it, so no Yahoo sender showed an Unsubscribe button. After updating, MailClean rescans your Yahoo/AOL accounts once automatically (this first scan takes a few minutes) and the buttons appear.
- More reliable Yahoo scanning: scans in batches and reconnects automatically if Yahoo drops the connection.
- Yahoo search icon: Yahoo has no search link, so the icon now opens Yahoo Mail and copies the sender's address — paste it into Yahoo's search box.
Improved
- Every sender row shows an Unsubscribe button. Senders whose emails have no unsubscribe link show a disabled button that explains why.

MailClean 1.3.2 — compact account names
Improved
- The Account column now shows short names like Gmail and Yahoo (with the part before @ when you have two accounts at the same provider). Hover to see the full address, or use the Full switch in the column header to show full email addresses — your choice is remembered.

MailClean 1.3.1 — bulk unsubscribe
New
- 🚫 Bulk unsubscribe: select several senders and click Unsubscribe. A confirmation window shows what will happen — senders with one-click unsubscribe are handled automatically in the background; for the rest you get an Open page button (or Open all) to finish on their website.
- 🔍 Search in your webmail: a search icon next to each sender opens Gmail, Yahoo, AOL or Outlook with that sender's emails.
