Willpower is a macOS app that gives you the willpower to resist distractions and focus on what matters. Simply add sites to a blocklist and click "Activate Now" to start blocking them.
You can also set up scheduled blocking sessions, create blocklists for different contexts, and configure visit-count triggers that automatically restrict access after you've visited a site too many times.
Willpower is free and open source. Inspired by SelfControl.
Go to the latest release and download the DMG file. Open the DMG file and drag the Willpower app to your Applications folder.
Compatible with macOS 14 and later.
See DEVELOPMENT.md for instructions on building from source and development details.
- Schedule-based and manual activation of blocklists
- Browser URL monitoring for visit-count triggers on all modern browsers (supports Safari, Chrome, Chromium-based browsers (Arc, Brave, Edge, etc.), and Firefox)
- Unbreakable blocking: you won't be able to access blocked sites even if you restart your computer or delete the app.
- Blocklist presets for common categories (social media, news, streaming, gaming)
- Blocking
youtube.comcan block Google apps like Google Meet, Google Docs, etc. from working, because Google often routes auth requests through YouTube's servers. - Proxies and VPNs can mess with blocking
- Willpower disables iCloud Private Relay when blocking sites, otherwise Safari would bypass the blocklist.
