Recap Page 2.0.0: Find your path through Marvel

Recap Page 2.0 turns a tracker with curated lists into a guide for choosing where to begin, following connected reading journeys, and keeping your place across Marvel continuity.

Upgrade without losing your place

Your saved Reading Lists, notes, availability choices, and reading progress remain compatible with version 1.4.0.

1. Close the old copy of Recap Page.
2. Download and unzip the Windows archive below into a new folder.
3. Double-click Start on Windows.
4. Open the new copy in the same browser and confirm that your saved Reading Lists appear.
5. Delete the old folder only after confirming your progress.

For extra protection, export a JSON backup before upgrading.

Find your way

• Start with confidence. Home now explains the difference between curated Reading Lists, individual comics, and personal lists before recommending a useful first story.
• Enter modern Marvel at a deliberate starting point. Modern Timeline begins in 1998 with a clear setup guide and an opinionated route into the era.
• Follow a complete reading journey. Home and Browse open one Reading Paths screen where you choose among three journeys and see every stop in order. Each stop uses progress from the exact Reading List in your library, then another imported version of the same story, or says Not added.
• Browse Marvel by publication age. Silver, Bronze, Copper, and Modern periods place stories beside the years where they begin.
• Move through the app without losing context. Page trails show where you are and provide direct routes back through the app.
• Know where a journey starts. Relevant shelves identify the first Reading List in each available path.
• Know where your progress lives. The app clearly explains that lists and reading progress stay in this browser and how a backup protects them.

Explore a much bigger Marvel library

• Choose from 250 Reading Lists. This release adds 139 lists to the 111 available in version 1.4.0.
• Meet more defining Marvel characters. New guides cover Loki, Moon Knight, Black Widow, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Thanos, and Deadpool.
• Stay with the teams. New journeys cover Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Force, the Defenders, Runaways, and Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.
• Take the modern X-Men fast track. A focused team guide and Jonathan Hickman's creator run complement the larger event route from Messiah Complex toward Avengers vs. X-Men.
• Enter Marvel 2099. A selected guide follows 172 comics with exact Marvel links while keeping unresolved source positions explicit.

• Scan faster without cover art. Bold series initials and layered color make cover-off mode useful rather than empty.
• Use clearer actions at every size. Compact controls explain themselves on hover or focus, and narrow screens receive labeled issue menus.
• Read comfortably in narrow windows. Navigation no longer pushes the reading content below an empty screen.

Download marvel-reading-tracker-windows.zip below, unzip it anywhere, and run Start on Windows.cmd. Node is bundled, so nothing needs installing.

Upgrading from 1.1.1 is safe. Your reading progress lives in your browser against http://127.0.0.1:8787/, not in the folder, so replacing the folder does not touch it. There is nothing to back up and nothing to migrate.

The app now tells you when there is a new version

This is the change worth knowing about, because it is the one that means you do not have to come back here to find out anything changed. The app checks once a day whether a newer version has been published, and if there is one it shows a notice with a direct download link and a link to what changed.

It only ever reads a version number. It never downloads, installs or replaces anything by itself, and nothing about your reading is sent anywhere. You can turn the check off under Backup & settings, and there is a button on the About screen for checking by hand whenever you want.

This is the first release the notice can see, since it works by comparing your version against the newest published one.

Getting issues in without typing them

You can now fill in a new issue's details from the Marvel Fandom wiki instead of entering them by hand: type the title, pick from the matches, and the release date, page count and creative team are filled in for you.

You can also paste a Marvel Unlimited address and have the book id read straight off it, rather than picking it out yourself.

Finding your way around

The catalog now says which half of it you are looking at, so a long shelf is easier to place yourself in. Each reading order can say which order to read after it, so finishing one tells you where to go next. The readme now shows the catalog rather than only describing it.

Fixes

Collapsing the sidebar used to blank every pill in the catalog. It no longer does.

The message left behind after deleting a reading list can now be closed, instead of staying until something else replaced it.

What changed

If the tracker could not start because something else was already using its address, the message it printed told you to run a command this download does not carry, and suggested a different address that would have shown you an empty tracker with none of your reading in it. Both were wrong for anyone using the download rather than a developer copy.

The message now tells you what to actually do: check whether the tracker is already open, and if it is not, close whatever else has the address. It also says plainly not to move the tracker to a different address, and why, since that is the one thing that looks like a fix and quietly loses sight of everything you have marked as read.

This was found by starting this download and letting it fail, which is why it could not have been caught before there was a download to start.

Nothing else about the app has changed.

marvel-reading-tracker-windows.zip is the whole app in one file. It needs nothing installed.

Unzip it anywhere, open the folder, and double-click Start on Windows. Your browser opens the tracker. That is all of it.

Everything is on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and your reading progress is saved by your browser.

What is new since 1.0.0

One download that needs nothing installed. Previously the only way to run the tracker was to install a developer runtime first and start it from a terminal, which is where most people reasonably stop. The download above carries its own runtime, so none of that is needed.

All of your reading orders are reachable from the home screen. The home screen shows twelve orders and there are twenty-six, and the control for seeing the rest sat at the top of the page, far above where the list of twelve ends. In practice that meant scrolling down to the end of the orders, finding nothing there, and concluding that twelve was all there was. There is now a control at the bottom of the list, where you actually finish reading, and it says how many more there are.

Upgrading

Nothing you have saved is affected. Your reading progress stays exactly where it is and this version reads it unchanged, so there is no backup to take and nothing to move across.

If you already have the tracker running, close it before starting the new copy.

Notes

The version the app reports had said 1.0.0 since early August while a lot of work landed on top of it, so a number quoted in a problem report pointed at a much older build than the one being run. It now points at this one.

The bundled runtime is Node 24.19.0 for Windows x64, downloaded from nodejs.org during packaging and checked against the publisher's own checksum rather than copied off a build machine.
