wStats 0.3.1
What's new
Desktop sensors. Contributed by @opastorello in #1:
- Motherboard fans and temperatures come from the Super I/O chip. Supported chips are Nuvoton NCT6779D and newer (ASUS, ASRock, many MSI), NCT6683D/6686D/6687D (recent MSI) and ITE IT86xx/IT87xx (Gigabyte).
- CPU power comes from the RAPL counters on Intel and AMD when Windows does not report it.
- NVIDIA GPUs report board power and each fan's speed.
Settings › Fans lets you hide fans and pick the one the taskbar shows.
New version notices. Once a day wStats checks GitHub for a newer release. When there is one, it tells you once with a notification. It also shows in Settings › About and in the tray and taskbar menus, which open the download. You can turn this off in Settings › About. Besides the public IP in the Network panel, it is wStats' only request to the outside. It works from this version on.
Process lists that read like Task Manager.
- WebView2 processes count under the app that uses them: WhatsApp instead of a "Microsoft Edge WebView2" row.
- Store apps show their real name and icon, with all their processes in one row.
Fixes
- With the Widgets button turned off, the strip no longer disappears from the taskbar.
- Centred taskbar icons stay centred next to the strip, as far as the space allows. This works with the strip on either side.
- "All monitors" now also works when wStats falls back to its own window: the strip shows on every taskbar.
- After a long-running Explorer refused to take the strip back, wStats now keeps retrying instead of giving up.
Installation
Download wStats_0.3.1_x64-setup.exe and run it. An earlier version, if installed, is upgraded and keeps your settings. The setup also updates the sensor service, to 0.2.0.
The installer is not code-signed yet: on first run, SmartScreen may warn you. Click "More info", then "Run anyway".

wStats 0.3.0
What's new
NPU. A new item for the AI processor (Intel AI Boost, AMD XDNA, Qualcomm Hexagon). In the taskbar it is a chip whose core fills with the load. Its panel shows up to 24 hours of history, the memory in use and the apps using the NPU right now. It only appears on machines with an NPU, and it is turned on there by default.
Compact mode. Two items per column, numbers only, each tagged by an icon or its name, on the left or the right. All ten items fit in less than half the space, and each number still opens its panel. Find it in Settings › Taskbar.
More ways to show the items.
- The graphics can be turned off, leaving the text alone.
- The "Beside" label can go to the right of the number.
- With the label beside, the number now fills the height of the bar.
One font family. The strip now uses Bahnschrift: the normal cut with labels above or below and in compact mode, and the taller condensed cut when the number stands alone.
A right-sized icon. The icon took less room than the other apps' icons in the taskbar. It now matches them, with a faint light rim that shows on dark taskbars.
Fixes
- Panels no longer open empty after being unloaded by "Save memory".
- The process lists include system and protected processes, such as Microsoft Defender.
