HomeKit name per device and channel (#388, @jp112sdl): the
homematic node's device list has a text field next to every device's
and channel's CCU name for a different name in HomeKit; empty keeps the
CCU name, shown as placeholder. The name in the CCU is not changed, and
accessories keep their identity (it follows the address): rooms, scenes
and automations stay, nothing needs re-pairing. An accessory already in
the Home app keeps the name the Home app stored when it was added, so
the HomeKit name mainly applies to newly added accessories and
channels. Since hap-nodejs 1.0 a name that does not start and end with
a letter or digit (e.g. Wandtaster Treppenlicht 1.OG (unten)) is
logged as "has an invalid 'Name' characteristic" on every deploy; such
names get an orange border in the editor, and a HomeKit name like Wandtaster Treppenlicht 1.OG unten removes the warning. A HomeKit
name also names a channel's service for the HmIP-PS, -PSM, -FSM, -BDT,
-FDT, -PDT and HM-ES-PMSW1-PL modules, which publish those services
without a name otherwise.
