iloader — Apple Vision Pro support

A build of iloader with wireless Apple Vision Pro support added, on top of its usual iPhone/iPad sideloading. Pair with and install to a Vision Pro over Wi-Fi — no cable, dev strap, or Xcode. iPhone/iPad support is unchanged.

Upstreaming in progress: nab138/iloader#565.

Update (v2.2.9): two fixes — macOS now shows the Local Network permission prompt properly (earlier builds never appeared under System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Local Network, so no devices were found; discovery now uses macOS's own Bonjour service), and the first "Tap to pair" attempt no longer fails with a "missing server proof" pairing error. If you downloaded an earlier build, re-download the DMG below — same link.

Download

  • iloader-visionOS-aarch64.dmg below — Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later).

Install

  1. Open the .dmg and drag iloader into your Applications folder, then open it. It's signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally — no security warnings.
  2. When macOS asks to let iloader "find devices on your local network," click Allow — this is required; it's how iloader discovers the Vision Pro.

One-time Vision Pro setup

  • Put the Mac and the Vision Pro on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • On the Vision Pro: Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode → On (restart the headset if prompted).

Install SideStore over Wi-Fi

  1. Open iloader. Your headset appears as "Apple Vision Pro · Wireless" → click Tap to pair.
  2. On the Vision Pro, open the Settings app — a 6-digit code appears there (it won't pop up on its own). Type it into iloader.
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID (top-left panel). Tip: click "Always Allow" on the keychain prompts so they stop.
  4. Click SideStore (Stable). iloader downloads it, signs it with your Apple ID, installs it over Wi-Fi, and places the pairing file automatically.
  5. On the headset, open SideStore and sign in — it's already paired. To sideload your own apps, install LocalDevVPN from the App Store and enable the VPN.

LiveContainer

LiveContainer + SideStore (Stable) installs, opens, and runs iPhone/iPad apps on the Vision Pro (in iPad-compatibility mode). Because of how visionOS launches apps, using it takes a couple of extra taps compared to iPhone/iPad:

  1. In LiveContainer, tap an app's Run button. LiveContainer closes — this is expected.
  2. Reopen LiveContainer from the Home View. It launches straight into the app you just ran.
  3. To get back to LiveContainer, force-quit the app (look at it and pinch-and-hold, or hold the Digital Crown + top button), then reopen LiveContainer — it comes back to its normal app list.

That close-then-reopen step is a visionOS limitation, not a bug: to load a guest app, LiveContainer relaunches itself, and on visionOS the window manager reactivates the still-open app instead of cold-relaunching it, so the reopen has to be done by hand. Side-by-side "multitask" windows aren't available on visionOS yet.

If you just want to sideload apps normally, plain SideStore is the simpler path.

Troubleshooting

  • "No devices found": confirm the Vision Pro is on the same Wi-Fi, Developer Mode is on, and iloader has Local Network access (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → iloader, toggle on, then relaunch iloader).
  • Keychain prompts repeat: click Always Allow (not just "Allow").

Not affiliated with Apple. Nightly and non-visionOS installer options aren't available for the Vision Pro.
