This source-only prerelease changes SideRefresh's licensing and distribution
notices. It does not change the supported renewal workflow or add a downloadable
Mac application.
License change
- Source code and prose documentation are licensed under Apache License 2.0
beginning with this release. NOTICErecords project attribution.- The SideRefresh name, logo, icons, screenshots, and other visual identity
follow the separate brand policy. - Versions through
v0.2.0-beta.1remain available under their original MIT
terms; their tags and release records have not changed. - App and Headless build outputs now include
LICENSE,NOTICE, and
BRAND_POLICY.md.
Apache-2.0 permits use, modification, commercial distribution, and private
forks. It adds an explicit contributor patent grant and requires applicable
notices and changed-file identification. It does not require forks to publish
their source.
Requirements
- macOS 13 or later.
- Xcode 16.2 or a compatible Swift 6 toolchain.
- An Apple Account Personal Team configured in Xcode.
- One physical iPhone paired and trusted in Xcode with Developer Mode enabled.
- One successful installation from Xcode before enabling automatic refresh.

open dist/SideRefresh.appThe generated app is ad-hoc signed for local source builds. This prerelease has
no downloadable Developer ID-signed and notarized binary asset and does not ask
users to bypass Gatekeeper.
Scope and limitations
- One user-owned app, one Xcode project or workspace, and one paired iPhone.
- Initial pairing, trust, Developer Mode, and the first Xcode installation
remain user-controlled prerequisites. - Tailscale discovery is optional and experimental and does not replace Apple
signing or CoreDevice pairing. - No third-party IPA installation, permanent signing, fleet management,
Xcode-free operation, or Apple Account password collection. - No real-device compatibility claim is added by this license-only release.
