@reedos reedos released this 18 Sep 23:23

Download Field Catalog_0.2.4_x64-setup.exe below and run it. The worker is bundled; nothing else is needed.

Installing over an existing copy upgrades it in place and leaves your library untouched. Close the app first -- Windows cannot replace a running executable.

Windows will warn that the installer is unsigned: More info -> Run anyway.

See the README for what it does, and Identification if you want automatic species ID -- it is optional.

A local-first culler for wildlife photography. Import a card, decide what to keep, and get the keepers out — nothing uploaded, no accounts, originals never moved.

Install

Download Field-Catalog-0.1.0-x64-setup.exe below and run it. The Python worker is bundled, so nothing else is needed.

Before you rely on it

  • Windows only, and only ever run on the machine it was built on. The worker is portable Python; the desktop shell is unverified elsewhere.
  • Identification is optional. Culling, bursts, outings, the life list and export need no model at all — type species names by hand if you prefer. For automatic identification, install Ollama and ollama pull llama3.2-vision, or add an xAI API key in Settings.
  • This is a personal tool, shared in case it is useful.

What it guarantees

Reject never deletes. Removing an original takes a dry run, an exact confirmation string, and a catalog backup taken first; previews always survive; coordinates come from EXIF only and a typed place never overwrites them; import copies nothing but a preview.

Highlights

Keyboard culling with undo, burst compare with pan and zoom synced across every frame, capture-day outings, a life list of your best frame per species, a keepers slideshow, and export to a folder with a metadata CSV.
