RigOne v1.2.9

This update brings a tidier operating panel, improved small-screen layouts,
separate tabbed Settings, and optional PC receive audio and microphone controls.

Layouts and Settings

  • Reworked all ten layouts, with more consistent spacing, proportions and footer access. Window sizing takes account of Windows scaling and the available work area, including the taskbar and window borders.
  • Improved fit for notebook screens, including the 1024 x 576 layout. Fresh installations default to this layout; existing supported layout choices are retained.
  • Retained Tall, Wide and four fixed panel sizes, each with a Scope variant that places the scope above the controls. Tall keeps its layout selector accessible and scrolls the central controls when necessary.
  • Moved Settings into its own movable, resizable window with Connection, Operating, Display and Diagnostics tabs. Opening Settings does not replace the operating panel or interrupt reception and audio.
  • Settings saves changes automatically and remembers its normal position across launches. Its selected tab and size are retained during the current app session.
  • Consolidated the front-panel radio connection control and improved Settings startup and transition handling.

PC audio and microphone

  • Added a speaker button for optional listening through PC speakers or a headset. Right-click to select the radio's USB receive device, listening output and volume.
  • PC listening volume is independent of the radio's AF gain and MUTE control.
  • Added a microphone button with separate microphone input, radio USB transmit output and transmit-audio level controls.
  • Added optional 'Hear myself' headset monitoring with its own volume, independent of transmitted audio. Monitoring can be used without enabling transmission.
  • Device and volume choices are remembered, but listening, microphone enablement and monitoring start off each session.
  • Enabling the microphone does not transmit. The microphone feed opens through RigOne PTT, with a three-minute microphone safety limit and audio-stop/PTT-release handling for disconnects and faults.
  • Added numeric audio diagnostics to help distinguish an open route from actual audio samples; no voice recording is performed.

Operating and display improvements

  • Added ten named favourites for frequency, mode and supported Data selection. Recall uses the saved frequency without rounding; right-click an entry to edit or clear it.
  • Added native Data-mode controls where supported, including IC-7610 D1/D2/D3. These do not alter the radio's audio-routing menus or provide a digital-mode decoder.
  • Added a mouse-following tuning/passband preview over the spectrum and waterfall. Hovering previews the position; clicking tunes the radio.
  • Added Classic and Silver analogue meter faces alongside the original RigOne face, with a remembered selection.
  • Refined passband edge visibility and reference-level adjustment, and reduced unnecessary waterfall redraw work.
  • Improved VFO selection/readback, radio-specific clock handling and gain-control cancellation behaviour.
  • Expanded in-app Help, credits and tooltips for the new layouts, Settings, audio, microphone, favourites and Data controls.

Radio support

  • Added experimental Native Xiegu G90 and X6100 profiles, with model-specific settings and available controls. The G90 SWR indication remains provisional; use the radio's own meter.
  • Added experimental Native Kenwood TS-590S and TS-2000 profiles. Kenwood meter readings are CAT meter dots, not calibrated watts or an SWR ratio.
  • Kenwood Visual Scan is an explicit tuning sweep, not a simultaneous live panadapter. TS-590S reception is muted during the scan.
  • Existing Native Icom, Native Yaesu FT-DX10 and Hamlib options remain available. The FT-DX10 CAT connection controls its own scope settings; it does not provide RigOne live spectrum frames.
  • Experimental support still needs model/firmware-specific user feedback. Unsupported controls remain unavailable.

Audio setup and safe use

Use the radio's USB receive endpoint as the listening input and PC speakers or a
headset as the output, never the radio's transmit endpoint. Turn off Windows
'Listen to this device' to avoid duplicate playback.

For microphone transmission, select the appropriate USB modulation input on the
radio and disable VOX/USB auto-keying. RigOne does not change these radio menus.
Use RigOne PTT and test initially at low RF power into a suitable dummy load.
Monitoring may have a short delay. If the control link fails, software cannot
guarantee that the radio returns to receive; check the radio and use its own
transmit timeout where available.

Existing settings are retained when upgrading. Features vary with radio model,
connection method and available USB audio devices.

Thanks

  • Special thanks to Jerzy Guzenda, SP3GJ, for detailed Windows screen-size reports and testing that prompted the ten-layout rework, and for the G90 information and suggestions that helped start Native Xiegu development.
  • Special thanks to my good friend Richie, Richard Samphire MW0LGE, for his help, advice and encouragement over many years, especially with all things TCI. It is very much appreciated.
  • Thanks to Peter, PJ4NX, for testing, feedback and the reminder to include PC audio; Steve, GW4OGO, for radio-clock and power-control suggestions; Greg, N7IDB, for regional operating feedback; and Malcolm for the FT-DX10 loan.
  • Thanks to everyone contributing useful reports, ideas and encouragement.

For feedback and support, please use the RigOne Discord community where possible so discussions and testing can stay together.
