Release list
EncryptedVhdBoot v1.0.1
Adds a silent VeraCrypt password and PIM input mode. Create an empty /ventoy/ventoy_vhdboot.silent file next to /ventoy/ventoy_vhdboot.img on the Ventoy data partition to suppress all text, input feedback, and the cursor produced by the bridge. Remove the marker to restore the normal interface.
The bridge checks the marker on UEFI file systems and reads NTFS metadata through UEFI Block I/O when Ventoy's NTFS partition is not exposed as a UEFI file system. Authentication and boot handoff are unchanged.
Tested with Ventoy 1.1.17 in an x64 UEFI VirtualBox VM: a VeraCrypt-encrypted Windows 10 VHD booted to the desktop in silent mode; removing the marker restored the visible password prompt. The marker hides only the bridge's output. Ventoy, Windows, and firmware messages remain outside its control. Unusual NTFS metadata layouts may leave the visible interface enabled; test on the target drive before relying on the marker.
Install ventoy_vhdboot_encrypted.img as /ventoy/ventoy_vhdboot.img. Keep a backup of the original Ventoy image. Secure Boot remains unsupported. This experimental pre-boot software has not received an independent security audit.

EncryptedVhdBoot v1.0.0
Initial release of Encrypted VHD Boot Bridge, an x64 UEFI compatibility bridge for booting VeraCrypt system-encrypted Windows VHDs through Ventoy's native Windows VHD boot path.
Highlights:
- Windows 10 and Windows 11 x64 support through structural VHD1 parser discovery rather than a version allowlist.
- Boot-tested with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019, 1909 Pro, 21H2 Pro, 22H2 Pro, and Windows 11 25H2 Pro.
- Fixed and dynamic VHD1 disks, unencrypted fallback, default/custom VeraCrypt PIM, and multiple encryption/hash combinations.
- Windows 11 preparation instructions include fully removing BitLocker/device encryption before VeraCrypt system encryption.
Installation:
- Keep a backup of the original Ventoy image.
- Copy
ventoy_vhdboot_encrypted.imgto/ventoy/ventoy_vhdboot.imgon the Ventoy data partition. - Boot in x64 UEFI mode with Secure Boot disabled and select the VHD.
Important: this is unsigned, experimental, security-sensitive pre-boot software and has not received an independent security audit. Test only with recoverable VHD copies and keep current backups.
The complete source archive includes all pinned source dependencies needed by this project. GitHub's automatically generated source archives contain only submodule links; use EncryptedVhdBoot-v1.0.0-source.zip for the self-contained source bundle. The prebuilt image is derived from the official Ventoy vhdiso Win10Based v3.0 image and contains the same third-party Microsoft boot files as that upstream image.
