Nebula (Android phone + TV) v1.91.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 21:11

Films and episodes no longer stop in their last minutes: when a source stops honouring its link part-way through (a signed address that ran out, a session the host replaced), Nebula asks the add-on for the same stream again and carries on from the same second — usually before the picture even pauses. The next episode is looked up only once this one has finished loading. (1.90.0: more sports streams play.)

More sports streams play: some sources answer only a player that asks for them the way their own site does, and Nebula now does that for every stream that says how. The sports add-on uses it to offer extra channels, marked India only where they play only from India. (1.89.0: a TV guide on Android TV.)

A TV guide on Android TV: Guide in the side rail shows the live and upcoming events from your add-ons on a timeline, by sport, with a line at the current time. Left and right walk a row, up and down move between rows by time, CH+/CH- page, and OK opens an event like its card. It appears only when an installed add-on lists events with start times. (1.88.0: speed tests for your connection and for each stream.)

Speed tests. Settings › Playback › Connection speed measures your connection in about 8 seconds (speed and delay), and streams faster than it are marked "may stall here". On a Streams page, Test speeds checks up to ten streams one at a time and marks each one plays smoothly, should play or may stall; hold a stream (or press Menu on a TV) to test just that one. The connection test downloads from Cloudflare's speed test only when you start it. (1.87.0: smoother on TVs and phones, more remote buttons, a third smaller download.)

Smoother on Android TV and phones: cards, rows and screens move without stutter, Home and Search fill several rows at once, and the player stops redrawing everything while a film plays. The remote does more: Back on Home goes to the top before it leaves, Play opens or plays what is lit, Menu opens its options, CH+/CH- move a page at a time, the Search button opens Search, and in the player Info shows playback details, Previous steps back and Stop leaves. Media buttons no longer start other apps while Nebula is open, and a headset or the TV home screen can no longer start a film while Nebula is in the background. The Subtitles panel hides the controls behind it, the pause board stays clear of the controls on TVs, and a phone player toolbar fits the screen. Searches that reach no add-on and series that will not load now say so with Retry, and errors read as plain sentences. The download is a third smaller. (1.86.0: pick the line you just heard to time add-on subtitles.)

Pick the line you just heard to move add-on subtitles into time. Open the subtitle panel, tap Pick the line you just heard, and choose the line that was just spoken. The video pauses while you choose, then you can fine-tune with the timing buttons. (1.85.3: reading failures retry up to three times, and a failure in the last minute counts as watched.)

A stream that stops reading mid-film is picked up again from the same second (up to three tries), and if it still fails the next source is offered. A failure in the last minute of a film or episode now counts as its end: ticked off, then Up next. (1.85.2: AV1 on a device with no AV1 chip plays on a fast decoder.)

AV1 on a phone or TV with no AV1 chip now plays on a fast decoder at once instead of dropping most of its frames, and any stream that keeps dropping frames offers the next source. On such a device AV1 sources say “may stutter here” and are not picked by themselves. Playback info names the decoder. (1.85.1: Seekr previews show at once and without gaps.)

Seekr previews show at once and without gaps: every picture of the film is fetched in the background as soon as it starts, and the scrub never blanks while the next one is made. (1.85.0: connect your own free seekr.tv key in Settings › Playback for instant pictures while you scrub.)

Seekr previews: connect your own free key from seekr.tv in Settings › Playback and scrubbing a film or episode shows a picture at once — on phones and on Android TV. The key follows your profile to your other devices. (1.84.2: the streams page names every add-on that is still answering.)
