LightTable 0.7.8
LightTable 0.7.8
Existing photos may look different after this update. The tone stage now works in linear light with a highlight shoulder, and RAW photos you have never edited open with the new LightTable Standard look. DNG camera profiles now apply their color and forward matrices with dual-illuminant blending. Review your existing edits before making final exports.
Grid filtering, sorting and Select All now run on the server, and you can reverse the sort direction and compare two photos side by side. Collections can be nested, renamed and reordered, Quick Collection is on Cmd+B, and Locate reconnects unavailable folders and missing photos.
Editing adds mask duplication, feather for linear gradients, named snapshots and guided upright. Export adds custom sizing (long or short edge, fit within a box, megapixels, percent, no enlargement, pixels per inch), output sharpening, a JPEG file size limit and a TIFF bit depth choice. Full-resolution merges now check available memory first.
Subject and Person masks now work on Windows and Linux, and learned denoise ships in the Windows and Linux packages. Lens profiles turn on automatically when the match is confident, chromatic aberration has its own controls, and the importer now brings in folder sidecars from the native app, including nested folders. Scanning and export encoding are faster, and Windows and Linux receive the interactive preview without JPEG compression. On Windows, reopening LightTable soon after closing it could stop with "the render server did not become ready"; the server now retries and starts.
Installation
- Linux x86_64: download
LightTable-0.7.8-linux-x86_64.tar.gzfrom this release. Ubuntu 24.04 or newer is required. The signed portable update feed now selects 0.7.8; Linux installation instructions. - Windows x64: use

Installation
This 0.7.8-beta.1 DMG is for Apple silicon and requires macOS 14 or newer. It is ad-hoc signed and is not notarized. After a blocked first launch, use System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway. Close LightTable before replacing the app. This beta uses manual updates.
The main Mac installation page offers the separately verified signed and notarized default. This beta does not replace that website or Homebrew default.
LightTable 0.7.6-beta.2 for macOS
Current Mac download: LightTable 0.7.6, signed and notarized, with automatic updates. The beta below is retained as a historical release.
LightTable 0.7.6-beta.2 for macOS
This Mac beta enables automatic update checks and uses a dedicated, signed Sparkle update feed. The photo-processing application and bundled runtime are unchanged from the validated 0.7.6-beta.1 release.
Installation
Requires Apple silicon and macOS 14 or newer. Download the DMG, open it, and drag LightTable to Applications. A ZIP is also available. The app is Developer ID signed by Space Inch, LLC and notarized by Apple.
For later releases, use LightTable → Check for Updates… or the automatic update prompt. Previously installed 0.7.6-beta.1 copies had automatic checks disabled; use Check for Updates… once or install this DMG to move to the new channel.
The installer has no obsolete unsigned-app warning or README.
Verified: Sparkle downloaded and installed this release over an isolated copy of the previous public beta using its original update URL. The installed app passed code-signature, stapled-ticket, and distribution checks.
LightTable 0.7.6
LightTable 0.7.6
Existing photos may look different after this update. The Whites control now brightens highlights when moved to the right, and saved edits are migrated to the corrected direction. This release also corrects GPU print preflash. Review your existing edits before making final exports.
This release adds dust removal, brush Remove, lens blur, curve eyedroppers, color samplers, borders, contact sheets, and local hair segmentation for People masks. Heal and Clone previews stay live on supported macOS editing paths. RAW lens-profile defaults, chromatic aberration controls, and capture white balance have also been improved.
Photo navigation can show a draft first frame while the accurate preview loads. Export encoding, photo scanning, and engine warm-up have been updated to reduce waiting. The Apple Photos picker marks photos that are already imported, and viewing imported photos clears filters that could hide them.

LightTable 0.7.0
Existing photos will look different
LightTable 0.7 changes the base render, so photos you edited in 0.6 will look different after you update. Your saved edits are kept.
- Film renders reach true white and black. Every film output recipe now levels the scan to the paper's lightest and darkest densities, the way a lab scanner is calibrated. On our test RAWs the brightest film pixel moved from 0.86 to 0.99.
- JPEG, HEIF and TIFF sources are no longer toned twice. Processed photos are expanded back toward scene light around middle grey before the film stage. RAW files are unaffected.
- The Standard develop is brighter. With Film off, middle grey lifts by 0.43 EV with a filmic shoulder, and dim scenes no longer render darker than Linear. Linear is unchanged.
- RAW files start with capture sharpening and colour noise reduction in thumbnails and exports as well as the editor.
- Camera profiles (approximate). A RAW's Profile section can apply a camera profile from your own Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom profile folder to the Film-off develop. None are bundled.
Cached previews re-render once after the update.

Updates and removal
Direct installer installations use the signed Windows update feed. You can also close LightTable and run a newer installer. Portable ZIP installations update by replacing the extracted application. Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → LightTable → Uninstall removes the app while retaining photos, catalogs, preferences and caches.
Microsoft Store and Windows package-manager listings are separate publication channels; this release does not claim those listings are available. The installer-definition archive contains prepared recipes, not proof of a published Scoop, WinGet or Chocolatey package.
The existing macOS 0.6.0-beta.1 and Linux 0.6.0 downloads remain unchanged.
